Arguably the main event of what the yachting industry refers to as boat show season, the 26th Monaco Yacht Show is set to start on Wednesday for 4 days of yacht-hopping and cocktail parties. Here's what you should look out for this year.

Galactica Super Nova, the 70-meter Heesen flagship built earlier in 2016 for the shipyard's billionaire owner, Vagit Alekperov, will be the largest superyacht to make her official debut at the show. The largest yacht in Port Hercules during the show will however be Athena, a 90-meter sailing yacht delivered by Royal Huisman in 2004 which is currently up for sale at an asking price of $69,900,000.

If you're in the market for a superyacht, you're in luck as $1,8 billion worth of boats will be up for sale at the show. Despite it being extremely rare for an offer to be made during the event, it is a good time to visit several superyachts at the same time instead of flying around the Mediterranean to look at them one by one.
This year, the most expensive yacht up for sale will be the 78-meter Lurssen, TV at an asking price of €92 million closely followed by the 70-meter Martha Ann which was built by Lurssen for Warren E Halle in 2008 and is now asking $79 million. Graeme Hart's 107-meter Ulysses will also be anchored in front of the marina with a price tag of $195,000,000.

Should you not be in the mood for a brokerage yacht, there are several brand new options available at the show. Built earlier this year by Mondomarine, the 60-meter Sarastar will be at the show and asking €47 million. She will be joined by 59-meter Maybe, the largest yacht to ever be built in Spain, asking €31,9m, 55-meter Quinta Essentia asking €37,5m and 34-meter Maryliz asking just €10 million.

Those not too tired by yacht visits can also take some time to explore the 580 booths set up ashore with companies such as Bricks & Goggles developing VR technology for yachts.
