As the Monaco Grand Prix just came to a close with a victory from Lewis Hamilton, some of the superyachts at anchor for the event have already started departing. Here you will find some of our best shots of yachts that were at anchor over the days around the Monaco GP.
133m Kusch Yachts-built megayacht Al Mirqab has been seen in Piraeus, Greece. Built in 2008 to a famous Tim Heywood exterior design and Andrew Winch interior design, she is capable of accommodating 36 guests, as well as 45 crew.
The Philippine presidential yacht, BRP Ang Pangulo, goes on sale, according to their new President, Rodrigo Duterte. Measuring 77m in length, the vessel was built in 1958 by Japanese shipyard, Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries and acquired by the Philippine government in 1959 as part of Japan’s war reparations to the country.
Established by François Grimaldi in 1133, Monaco has gone through many transformations during its history. Stretching over 25 square kilometers in 1847, Monaco's territory got slashed to 2 square kilometers following the rebellion of Menton and Roquebrune against the Principality. As a result, Charles III decided to position Monaco as a luxury destination in the second half of the 19th century and set it on a path to become what Monte-Carlo is known for today by creating the area's first casino.
The world's largest yacht by gross tonnage, Dilbar (ex. Project Omar) has left Lurssen facility 2 weeks ago and reportedly went to her first port of call in Tangier, Morocco. Built for Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who also owns the 110m Ona (ex. Dilbar), the megayacht was launched in November 2015.
As many other superyachts at the moment, 107m Ulysses has been spotted in the South of France. The boat is said to have been commissioned by New Zealand businessman Graeme Hart with a net worth currently valued by Forbes at 7.2 billion dollars.
99m Madame Gu has been recently seen in Monaco. The superyacht was built by Feadship in 2013 and delivered after four years of construction. Andrew Winch styled her exterior, whilst De Voogt was responsible for the naval architecture. With perfect proportions, it's hard to imagine that her tonnage exceeds 2,900 GRT.
British designer Andy Waugh, formerly part of H2 Yacht Design, presented an eye-catching superyacht concept Nouveau, that pushes the boundaries of the yacht aesthetic to an extreme degree. Inspired by the works of the classical exponents of the Art Nouveau style including Alphonse Mucha and Antoni Gaudi, the style incorporates the key principles of dynamism and organic form in an innovative manner.
Cloudbreak, the 72.5m explorer yacht from Abeking & Rasmussen, has been delivered to her owner after the final sea trials. The latest custom build from the German shipyard has been four years in development, but not many details about the project are known. The superyacht features exterior design by Espen Oeino, and has been named after one of the best surfing locations, situated in Fiji in the South Pacific. Interior style comes from the boards of Paris-based designer Christian Liaigre, with furnishings carefully selected by PH.D architectural bureau.
