Yacht Harbour takes a look at some of the largest superyachts to be found on the market in winter 2019-2020.

#1. Octopus

LOA: 126.2m

Builder: Lürssen (2003)

Until the explorer superyacht REV is launched in 2020, Octopus holds the title of the largest expedition yacht in the world, not surpassed in 16 years from her delivery. She had belonged to Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen, till he passed away in late 2018. In September 2019, she was finally listed for sale.

Octopus is capable to accommodate 26 guests in total, with up to 57 crew members. Amenities on-board include a swimming pool and a music studio as well as a courtyard-like set up on the third deck of Octopus occupied by guest space.

She has two helicopter pads and an internal dock that extends through the hull, holding two submarines and a 18-metre tender. The yacht has been involved in multiple exploration discoveries, including a Japanese battleship and the bell from HMS Hood, a World War II battlecruiser.

Despite her expedition nature, the yacht has been much favoured by the world’s top-rate celebrities, with Mick Jagger recording an album in on-board studio in 2011 and Usher, U2 and Johnny Cash listed among other performers.



#2. Amadea

One of the most mysterious superyachts on the market, Amadea was delivered in 2006 by Lürssen. The German shipyard reported, the vessel had been commissioned by Middle East client with a fleet of other yachts. The yacht is officially registered in the Caymans, with her owner still not known. 

With interior design by Francois Zuretti and exteriors by Espen Oeino, the key feature of Amadea is her ten-metre aft pool. The boat also has a spa, beach club and movie theatre. She offers accommodation for up to 16 guests across 8 cabins.



She is powered by MTU engines of 5766 hp each giving her a maximum speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots. Amadea's maximum range is estimated at 8000 nautical miles. 

Recently, the vessel has been listed for sale through Imperial, traditionally working with Russian businessmen.



#3. Kismet

Builder: Lürssen (2014)

95-metre superyacht Kismet was built in 2014 by Lurssen and is owned by Shadid Khan, Pakistani-American billionaire and business tycoon, who is also the owner of the Fulham FC and Jacksonville Jaguars. The yacht's interior has been designed by Reymond Langton Design and her exterior styling is by Espen Oeino. 

Kismet is stretching over five decks, designed with corporate entertainment and charter in mind, thus suitable for parties of up to 270 guests. As an innovative feature, Kismet boasts video walls, extending up to two decks high, able to show regular television but programmed to display high-definition moving artwork.



A large swimming pool and Jacuzzi area, spa zone, movie theatre, an outdoor fireplace and winter garden can be found among the yacht’s luxury amenities.

In general, Kismet’s entertainment and design characteristics have been attracting top artists and events. For example, Jay-Z and Beyonce were spotted on-board last year, while Netflix filmed Kismet in a party scene from its biggest production so far, "Six Underground", making Kismet one of the largest superyachts appearing on screen.

Kismet is available for charter in the Mediterranean in summer period and in the Caribbean waters in winter.





Builder: Feadship (2016)

The 92-metre Feadship superyacht Aquarius launched in 2016 is believed to have been owned by US real estate businessman and entertainment magnate Steve Wynn. She was listed for sale in September 2019.

The 92-metre features exteriors and interiors by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, along with naval architecture by De Voogt. Aquarius' key features include a helipad on the bow, a beauty salon, a large pool on the aft main deck, a gym, massage and therapy room, Jacuzzi and large outdoor deck spaces.



The superyacht is also highlighted with a water-level bar under her glass-bottom pool. When a party starts, the large pool can be transformed into a dancefloor. Her spacious swim platform meanwhile offers direct access to the guest gym with fold-down terrace and a beach club adjacent to a massage and beauty salon.

As for the accommodation, 14 guests can be carried on board in 7 suites, including 6 VIP-suites forward on the main deck and an owner's suite on the upper deck. Speed wise, Aquarius is capable of 17 knots.

Builder: Pride Mega Yachts (2018)

Delivered last summer, the superyacht remains the largest vessel ever built in Asia.

British studio Rainsford Saunders Design was responsible for her sleek exterior lines, inspired by classic Rolls-Royce cars. Spread over six-decks, Illusion Plus offers two outdoor Jacuzzis, a touch-and-go helicopter landing pad and ample space for lounging, relaxing and partying. The yacht can accommodate 12 guests across 8 en-suite cabins, with capacity for 25 crew.



Her plush interior was crafted by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design and installed by Greenline Yacht Interiors of Dubai. The superyacht features an in-built cinema screen, four guest lounges, two interior dining areas, a spa area with a sauna, steam room and massage room, a large tender garage and a lower deck ocean lounge with a bar.

Her key features include a helipad on the foredeck, a tender garage with a capacity of three tenders, superyacht spa with sauna, steam and massage room. Powered with twin 3,000hp Rolls Royce diesel-electric engines with a top speed of 16 knots and the cruising speed of 14 knots, Illusion Plus would be able to cover a distance of 5,000 nautical miles, thanks to her fuel tanks of 261,000 litres.





Builder: Oceanco (2014)

Built in 2014, Tranquility features exteriors by Oceanco’s in-house design team and interiors by Winch Design. Trademarked with extensive spa area on the lower deck, plunge pools and customised interior, the yacht can accommodate up to 26 guests on-board, along with 28 crew members. 

Across her five decks, Tranquility features several pools, massage areas, saunas, experiential showers, hammams, Jacuzzis and a gym all designed with the most precious of materials, it directly connects to a beach club from which guests can swim out into the ocean.



First known as Equanimity, the vessel has undergone a notorious chain of events, being seized and then auctioned by the Malaysian government, alleged purchased by her former owner Low Taek Jho on money embezzled from the 1MDB state fund.

In 2019, the vessel was finally sold to Malaysia-based hospitality investment holding Genting Group for $126,000,000, receiving a new name and a clean state. Nonetheless, the current owners listed her for sale again after 6 months in October.




Builder: Amels (2016)

The largest Amels superyacht to date, Here Comes The Sun became her Russian owner's 4th superyacht named after The Beatles' song. The superyacht features exterior design by Tim Heywood and interior style by Winch Design. 

Amongst her main features are a 5.5-metre swimming pool aft of the main deck, an extensive 87-square-metre beach club area located right underneath with a sitting area, sauna and gym. Other amenities also include a cinema room and a large Jacuzzi on the sundeck.



As for the accommodation, there are 8 guest cabins on board and space for 27 crew. The six-decks yacht comprises 900 square metres of outside deck space and a garage capable of storing four jet skis and two 11m tenders.

115-m Lürssen Superyacht Ahpo Listed for Sale with Record Price
The 115.1-meter Lürssen superyacht Ahpo has returned to the brokerage market with an asking price of €340 million, making it the most expensive luxury yacht currently listed for sale. Represented by Alex Busher of Edmiston and Moran Yacht & Ship, Ahpo was originally sold as a new build by Moran Yacht & Ship in 2017 to a repeat Lürssen client and began construction under the codename Project Enzo.Completed in 2021 and showcased at the Monaco Yacht Show the following year, Ahpo boasts a striking design by Nuvolari Lenard, featuring trademark half-moon windows and tapered decks. New Paris Boat Show Scheduled for November 2025
At its recent annual general meeting, the French Nautical Industries Federation (FIN) announced the introduction of a brand-new Paris-based boat show, set to take place in November 2025.The highly anticipated Paris Nautic Show will run from Wednesday, November 26th, to Sunday, November 30th, 2025, hosted at the prestigious Parc des Expositions du Bourget in northeastern Paris. This announcement follows the cancellation of the initial Nautic-en-Seine boat show, which had been planned for April 2025 along the banks of the River Seine. Market conditions led to the decision to cancel the open-air event, originally intended as a fresh iteration of the longstanding Nautic Paris boat show.The newly organized indoor event will be managed by M2O, FIN's dedicated event subsidiary. FIN emphasized the critical role of a Paris-based boat show in supporting the nautical industry amid challenging economic and political environments, serving as a vital platform to showcase resilience and innovation within the sector.Approximately 350 exhibitors and between 300 to 400 boats are expected to participate, occupying two expansive halls totaling 40,000 square meters.
