Inside Benetti's 37m Legend: A Modern Take on 1960s Navetta Aesthetics
Benetti has introduced M/Y Legend, a 37-meter Motopanfilo yacht that blends the charm of 1960s navettas with modern technical and stylistic advancements. Designed by Francesco Struglia for the exterior and Lazzarini Pickering Architects for the interior, the yacht maintains its traditional allure while featuring contemporary enhancements.Legend's design emphasizes large, light-filled spaces with broad terraces that offer constant visual contact with the sea. The yacht’s all-composite construction was overseen by Francesco Struglia and Lazzarini Pickering Architects, who aimed to create a fluid transition between interior and exterior spaces. Main saloon The yacht includes personalized elements such as Antartide pink marble and embossed leather, requested by the owner. Legend is equipped with a Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) system to meet IMO Tier III emissions standards, a double-capacity desalination plant, a fuel purification system, and a Starlink internet system. It also features upgraded Miele professional appliances and complies with the REG Yacht Code for charter operations.Main saloon The interiors, designed by Claudio Lazzarini and Carl Pickering, offer a contemporary interpretation of classic motoryacht elegance. The main deck saloon, with sliding glass panels, blends seamlessly with the generous beach platform. Reflective surfaces around the windows enhance natural light and expand the interior spaces. The Main Deck's structure, inspired by the skeleton of a whale, features extensive lateral glazing and minimal furnishings to create an open ambiance. Main deckInterior materials include Alpi teak, Calacatta marble, and Antartide pink marble. The owner’s suite on the main deck and four guest suites on the lower deck offer luxurious accommodations, with a spiral staircase connecting to the skylounge on the upper deck. Loro Piana Interiors provided classic summer fabrics in shades of white, blue, and malachite.Master suite Francesco Struglia’s exterior design unifies the hull and superstructure with sharp lines and elongated forms. The superstructure’s bronze-colored paint adds a touch of modern elegance. The sun deck features a custom “grand piano” sun-pad, and the Lower Deck includes a spacious beach platform with a pull-out bar.Upper deckPowered by two V12 MAN engines, M/Y Legend achieves a top speed of 17 knots. The efficient hull, designed by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture in collaboration with Azimut|Benetti Group R&D, ensures excellent seakeeping and optimized fuel consumption, providing an impressive range.Founded in 1873, Benetti is the oldest Italian shipyard specializing in luxury yachts. Palm Beach 85 Unveiled by Palm Beach Motor Yachts
Palm Beach Motor Yachts has introduced its latest flagship, the Palm Beach 85 (PB85), marking a significant milestone for the brand known for its innovative yacht design and construction. Founded by ocean-racing champion Mark Richards, Palm Beach Motor Yachts has built a reputation for high-performance, fuel-efficient motor yachts since its inception in 1995.The PB85 is designed to excel in luxury, onboard comfort, and performance. It aims to set new standards in the superyacht category, reflecting nearly three decades of Palm Beach Motor Yachts' expertise. The yacht offers various customizable options, including a three or four-stateroom layout with four heads, and choices between Skylounge or Sedan models and twin or triple engine packages. One of the standout features of the PB85 is its spacious and well-appointed crew quarters, which prioritize crew comfort – an uncommon focus for yachts in the 80-foot range. The yacht also features a single-level living and entertaining space on the main deck, from the forward helm station to the covered cockpit, ensuring a seamless and sociable environment. The full-beam master stateroom amidships includes a king bed, ensuite bath, ample storage, and large windows that provide plenty of natural light. The aft deck offers a generous space for relaxation and easy access to the water. The PB85 is constructed using Palm Beach’s proprietary V-Warp® Technology, a design philosophy developed from Richards' experience in ocean racing. This technology involves an optimal resin to E-Glass fiber ratio, resulting in a strong and efficient hull. The hull is directly fused to the carbon fiber structure, enhancing performance and fuel efficiency. Key features include a fine entry, graceful curvature amidships, and minimal deadrise at the transom, which reduce drag and improve stability.Mark Richards commented, "The Palm Beach 85 represents a significant achievement. It embodies our commitment to luxury, fuel efficiency, and performance. The PB85 is a result of our team's dedication to innovation and excellence in yacht building."A boatbuilding business was launched by Mark Richards in 1995. Today, the company builds a variety of models, including their Classic Series, comprised of the 42, 45, 50, 52, 55, 65, and 70, and the sporty GT Series, which includes the GT50 and GT60.
