Feadship Launches Project 713, Advancing Environmental Goals
Feadship has unveiled the 59.5m Project 713, marking a significant step in its commitment to environmental sustainability. With an elegant blue-grey hull and white superstructure, Project 713 continues Feadship's progress toward its climate neutrality target for 2030, following the launches of Obsidian and Project 821.Designed by Studio De Voogt with interiors by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, Project 713 features several innovative technologies aimed at reducing environmental impact. The yacht also includes a diesel-electric propulsion system and the capability to run on non-fossil HVO fuel. The hull of Project 713 is optimized for cruising speed rather than top speed, enhancing its energy efficiency. The vessel’s power system includes four generators and a 400 kWh battery, providing energy for both propulsion and hotel load.Project 713 is also notable for being the first new-build Feadship to use FSC-certified plantation teak for decking, ensuring sustainable harvesting practices. This achievement is attributed to efficiency-enhancing features that offset the energy losses from electrical conversions on board. The launch highlights the significant economic contribution of the superyacht industry in the Netherlands, which accounts for over half of the country's maritime sector. This industry fosters innovation, craftsmanship, and employment across various fields, including naval architecture, interior design, and advanced engineering.Based in the Netherlands and with roots dating back to 1849, Feadship was formed as a group in 1949 as a marketing partnership between six Dutch shipyards, de Vries Lentch, Van de Stadt, Witsen & Vis, Akerboom, De Vries Scheepsbouw and Van Lent Shipyard, and De Voogt Naval Architects.
