The latest Zeelander Z72 has been launched at the Zeelander Yachts facility in Groot-Ammers, the Netherlands. The yacht was christened with a bottle of champagne and named Lugduno. The owner stated that the name Lugduno has a rich history and was chosen carefully. It refers to the homeport, Katwijk, which was called Lugduno by the Romans. This old marina used to serve as a naval base and had an important function in the defence of the Roman Empire.

"Our first destination is Norway, to explore the Fjords. After that, we'll see where the yacht will take us," says the owner.

Lugduno has an overall length of 20m, she is the flagship of the Dutch-based shipyard in Groot-Ammers. The exterior design emerged from collaboration between Zeelanders’ in-house design team and renowned Dutch designer Cor D. Rover. The Z72 has an elegant and striking S-shaped exterior design that complements the iconic looks of the generous bow, slim stern design and spacious windows.

The main deck layout features 360 panoramic views. The wheelhouse, dining, and kitchenette are located here in the heart of the ship. In this area, the windows are fitted with privacy glass, creating an intimate atmosphere in the evening. Lugduno can accommodate six guests in three staterooms and provides one captain’s cabin. The master suite and two guest cabins, all with ensuite bathrooms, are situated on the lower deck.

From a technical perspective the yacht is powered by three Volvo Penta 1350 IPS engines, which ensure a top speed of 40 knots.
Zeelander Yachts was founded in 2002 in the Netherlands by Sietse Koopmans. The first model was unveiled to the public in 2008. The launch model Z44 received positive reviews at the Monaco Yacht Show and drew enormous crowds, despite being at an event dominated by much larger yachts. Within three years, the Z44 had been successfully introduced to the US as well as Europe, and it was an obvious direction to add a larger model to the fleet. The first Z55 was delivered in November 2015, and the flagship Z72 was launched in March 2019.
