Russian billionaire banker, Oleg Tinkov, whose net worth is estimated at $2.3 billion by Forbes, has ordered the first private 77-metre icebreaker yacht dubbed La Datcha. She is set to become the first private luxurious ice breaker, capable of exploring the furthest destinations possible. Planned for delivery in autumn 2020, the yacht is being built as a part of Damen’s SeaXplorer series in the Netherlands. The explorer is being built as a part of the businessman’s luxury recreational project La Datcha, consisting of several holiday hikes in ultra high-end destinations. La Datcha will be available for charter according to Tinkov’s interview with Forbes, at a price starting from € 690,000,000 per week. Meanwhile, the owner himself is planning to spend up to 20 weeks a year on the yacht. The six-deck expedition yacht will feature a 14-metre beam, along with a draft of 6.5 metres, adding up to interior volume of 2,560 GT. She will also boast a speed of 14.5 knots. In fact, it is an expedition yacht, able to break ice up to 40 centimetres thick and maintain autonomy at sea for up to 40 days. Thanks to generous storage spaces, a wide range of equipment and tenders can be housed on-board, including 2 helicopters, 1 submarine, 1 VIP tender / rescue boat, 1 beach lander tender, 1 dive support tender, 4 waverunners, 2 expedition ribs and 2 snowscooters. The yacht’s custom interior design by Amels and Damen will be trademarked with full height windows of the observation lounge, main saloon and the owner’s suite and an observation deck upstairs. Expedition Yacht 77 will come with hot water Jacuzzis — 1 indoor and 1 outdoor, a sauna and steam bath, massage room and a fully equipped gym.La Datcha Expedition Yacht 77’ six guest cabins, including 2 master suites and 2 VIPs, offer accommodation to 12 guests, along with a crew of 25. Palma Superyacht Show 2019: 7 of the largest brokerage yachts on display
The seventh annual Palma Superyacht Show will take place from 27 April to 1 May, 2019 at Moll Vell – Puerto de Palma. First started when a group of local brokers decided to get together to promote their yachts listings, the event has become solidly established on the international boat show calendar.Palma, once voted “the best place to live in the world” according to The Sunday Times, is considered a top quality destination to visit. Offering first class boutique hotels, it also boasts a thriving old town, hosting some of the best restaurants in Europe. In addition to a wide range of cultural, gastronomic and sporting activities all within a short distance, Palma is also considered one of the centres of the Mediterranean yachting and has a thriving yachting industry. This year’s Palma Superyacht Show is expected to have around 80 yachts on display. Aside from sleek sailing yachts in the 24-30-metre range, a selection of large motor yachts will be exposed to visitors’ attention. The 50-metre-plus yachts can easily accommodate 12-14 guests, boasting oversized Jacuzzis, Hamman and helipads and boast a wide cruising range. The recovery of the financial market has contributed to the growth in the number of yachts at the show and increased number of exhibitors. The show has also benefitted from the support of the Balearic government and the collaboration between the public and the private sectors. The 2019 edition will feature a new dedicated tender section. Following last year's success, an extended show area and a 72m floating bridge connecting STP shipyard to Palma's iconic fisherman's dock will reappear, along with popular FunFair tomfoolery with costumed performances and mime-acts.Refit & Repair, a distinguished sector, will also benefit from an improved lay-out this year. A relocated bar/restaurant area will face the Refit & Repair area, so that stands will be easy to spot and the new set-up will make for a better viewing experience overall. Furthermore, Refit & Repair, now going into its third year, will feature 10% more stands in comparison to last year: a total of 28 companies will be present launching ‘break-the-mould’ products and speaking on tried-and-tested services. The Palma Superyacht Show runs concurrently with the well established Boat Show Palma. Southern Wind delivers 32m sailing yacht The Power of 2
South African shipyard Southern Wind has delivered the third hull of SW105 series. The yacht launched earlier this year and christened ThePower of 2 has now departed from Cape Town after extemsive sea trials for her maiden voyage to the North Sea.The yacht features interior and exterior design by Nauta Design, with the Farr Yacht Design responsible for the naval architecture. This cooperation has already met recognition from the industry, with 29-meter Southern Wind yacht Seatius winning Neptune Award for the 2019 Best Sailing Yacht Interiors at the Boat International Design and Innovation Awards. The Power of 2 was ordered by an experienced sailor who was looking to step up from a smaller sailing yacht to faster sailing and exploring remote locations in comfort and safety. She is ideal for long- range navigation and easy sailing given different sea conditions. The yacht’s twin rudder system combined with the lifting keel (3-5m) allows access to more remote shallower ports and anchorages, and with the keel down this configuration provides excellent upwind light air performance. Meanwhile, the yacht’s fixed bowsprit with an integrated anchor arm has been designed for easy anchoring. She is built with a Deck Saloon configuration that was specifically designed by Nauta Design and Southern Wind Shipyard. That allows for a tall and easily accessible engine room, located below the saloon. A high capacity battery installation allows for longer periods of silent running and greater autonomy, a real plus for a yacht that will spend most of the time away from harbours and marina facilities. The style of the Power of 2’ interior is essential and modern at the same time. The oak furniture combined with muted and toned textiles and upholstery create a warm atmosphere on board, with no compromise to design or functionality. The interior features Southern Wind Shipyard’s most popular owner’s cabin, with the forward layout. This comprises three comfortable en-suite guest cabins amidships with crew quarters and galley aft; a layout that allows maximum privacy for crew and guests. The main saloon is a light, bright open space where eight to ten people can relax together in comfort on sofas or at the dining table while enjoying panoramic 270° window views. Immediately forward of the living area, lies a fully equipped custom bar that separates the main saloon from the owner’s private area. The Power of 2 has been conceived and built to be respectful in terms of sustainability, making her an ‘eco-friendly’ yacht. Marco Alberti, SWS General Manager explains: As an example, water and fuel treatment systems on board this SW105 were more complex than normal, incorporating fuel polishers and water softeners. Added to that, fridges are stocked with carefully stowed glass bottles filled with drinking water that is desalinated, re-mineralised and sterilised on board.Southern Wind Shipyard was founded in 1991 by Italian entrepreneur Willy Persico. Located in the city of Cape Town, South Africa, the shipyard specialises in high-performance composite sailing yachts from 25 to 35 metres, designed for both relaxed cruising and high-octane sailing. Among other noticeable vessels of the yard stands a 30-metre sailing yacht Blues to be seen at Palma Superyacht Show 2019.
