The 41st annual Palm Beach International Boat Show starts today. Owned by the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County and produced by Informa Markets, the PIBS will be taking place along Flagler Drive in downtown West Palm Beach, directly across the Intracoastal Waterway from Palm Beach Island. An analysis of the boat show from 2022 showed that the event has an estimated total statewide economic impact of over $1.05 billion. With over 55,000 visitors attending the show in previous years, this has contributed to over $725 million in total sales resulting from the show. This year's edition will feature 600+ exhibiting brands and over 800 vessels, more than $1.2 billion worth of yachts and accessories. Here is the list of the yachts worth seeing. Arrow75mFeadship Arrow was delivered by Feadship in 2020, and hit the market for the first time, listed for sale by Fraser. The 75-meter is a full displacement superyacht built in steel and aluminum and Lloyd’s registered. Her exterior and interior were penned by London-based H2 Design. She can accommodate 12 guests in six spacious cabins, including an impressive full-beam owner suite complete with an office and his and her dressing room; and a VIP stateroom on the main seck. Arrow features the latest generation of Feadship hybrid technology – enabling the most efficient use of energy with the lowest possible impact. Calex67mBenettiFor the 67-meter vessel it’s an American debut. This tailor-made superyacht was delivered to her Californian owner in 2022. With a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, Calex testifies to the shipyard’s ability to build superyachts that perfectly reflect their owner’s personality. Calex’s sleek, modern exterior styling was made by Giorgio Cassetta, while the interiors were drawn by Benetti Style Department. The yacht provides accommodation for 14 guests across seven staterooms. Her notable features include a private sundeck with gym, spa and gas fireplace. Come Together60mAmelsThe Amels 60 Come Together is the first of a new generation of Amels Limited Editions and was delivered to her owner in Spring 2022. This 60-meter features the Espen Oeino exterior design. Her custom interiors, with a relaxed and natural theme and a subtle masculine edge, have been created by Winch Design. With an 830 GT, a large sun deck and folding owners suite balcony as well as hybrid power and propulsion technology, this first Amels 60 retains the sought-after Amels Limited Editions DNA now shaped for future. The yacht has a touch-and-go helipad, a DJ booth, and a spacious beach club. 26XP Fast25.89mNumarine Numarine will present for the first time the fastest 26XP with a planing hull, built for the US market. The Numarine 26XP is a large-volume motor yacht that can be customized with either a displacement hull or a planing hull with bigger engines, as well as with a 4- or 5-cabin layout. The 65 sqm flybridge is one of the biggest in the market. With twin MAN 560 engines, the 26XP Fast can go up to 3000 nautical miles and has an impressive speed of 31 knots. The new, ultra-spacious Horizon PC68 model has been meticulously planned to meet and exceed the cruising needs of discerning boaters. The debuting PC68 features an Open Salon layout, which offers an expansive saloon area and a large seating and entertainment space on the main deck. Honey Fitz28.3mDefoe Boat & Motor WorksThis legendary wooden yacht was originally built in 1931 and has been used by five U.S. presidents: Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon, and President John F. Kennedy. She has been carefully reconstructed by her current owner, Charles R. Modica, and will debut at the show after three years' restoration. Zeelander 514.7mZeelander For Zeelander 5 the PIBS 2023 will be an international debut. The curvaceous Zeelander silhouette is still instantly recognisable, but compared to the Z44, the shearline is more voluptuous than ever, and now follows an elongated ‘S’ shape. The yacht features bigger windows in the wheelhouse and in the hull. The Zeelander 5 has a maximum speed of 40 knots courtesy of three Volvo Penta IPS-650 drives and at the same time manages to be 2dBA quieter than its predecessor. Arksen 288.57mArksenThe Arksen 28 is one of the latest models in the Adventure Series, and a perfect day boat. Her aluminum deep-V hull makes her perfect for a safe and stable ride, the 360 views from the saloon and helm station provides panoramic views on the way to and at anchor. The boat has a day-bed, pantry unit and toilet. The top speed of 40+knots makes her perfect for a day adventure. Following the launch of the SW96 Nyumba, Massimo Gino of Nauta Design shared the details of the tailored yacht. The expert owner wanted a fast and efficient cruising yacht to sail around the world with a short crew that could also take part in superyacht regattas. His preference was for a sleek, dynamic profile and uncluttered deck layout with the deck equipment ergonomically positioned for ease of use, as well as guest safety and comfort. This led to several aesthetic and practical innovations.“Although this is the fourth hull in the SW96 series, Nyumba is uniquely special,” says Massimo Gino, co-founder of Nauta Design in Milan and longtime design partner of Southern Wind. “Not only she is Southern Wind’s first yacht with hybrid electric propulsion engineered with BAE Systems to be compliant with IMO Tier III regulations. The sleek and simple lines of her GT deck configuration represent an important evolution of the GT deck concept we first introduced on the SW105 Taniwha.”The low-slung, carbon composite coachroof is key to the yacht’s racy lines and minimalist profile. Subtly integrated into the teak decking, the coamings protecting the guest cockpit are an elegant design feature that also serve as a covered conduit for the sheets from the winches as they pass forward – a stylish detail that also keeps the guest area clear of running rigging (the sheets re-emerge from the forepart of the coachroof). “The owner wanted shorter sunbeds to increase the size of the maneuvering area aft. We pushed the mainsheet traveler as far aft as we could to the end of the boom, also reducing loads to the minimum; it’s now aft of the crew companionway, which is styled to look like a mini version of the coachroof, while the twin helm positions have been brought further forward for better visibility. The consoles themselves are mounted on custom-designed supports that resemble the hub of a propeller or thruster – another of the client’s bespoke requests,” says Gino. For ease of handling when short-handed the three winches on each side are mounted on the teak coamings that also serve as convenient benches within easy reach of the helm positions (LED lighting under the coamings create a ‘floating’ effect after dark). Importantly for safe operations under sail, the aft deck is completely flush with just one step down into the guest cockpit for added protection. The transom folds down to create an 8.5-sqm swimming platform and reveal the garage that has room for a 4.5m tender. A smart design feature created by Southern Wind as all the transom concepts are that the platform is composed of two folding sections: the transom and part of the deck. The lower section can be angled upwards to protect the garage from slamming on the waves in rough water or if the tender comes off the plane nearby, but the upper section can still be positioned horizontally. “Nyumba is a Swahili word for “home” and the owners will be spending a lot of time aboard, so the interior had to be both comfortable and cozy,” says Gino. “The design is based on classic oiled teak veneers and specific pieces of fitted furniture, but the general styling was managed by the owners, choosing from the wide range of options in the Southern Wind palette of materials and colors.” The interior layout follows the tried-and-tested SW96 arrangement with the master stateroom and two ensuite guest cabins amidships. The crew quarters are in the stern. Deck hatches ensure the cabins and bathrooms are extremely light and airy. The main saloon amidships benefit from the sliding glass companionway hatch, large hull windows, and a wide skylight that runs the length of the coachroof.Southern Wind is a boutique bluewater sailing yacht shipyard founded in Cape Town in 1991. Since its foundation, SWS has specialized in the production of semi-custom high-performance superyachts. Nauta Design was founded by Massimo Gino and Mario Pedol in 1985. Ocean Independence has announced the sale of the 68-meter Soaring. The yacht was sold by Peter Hürzeler and Daniel Küpfer in an in-house deal. The 68-meter yacht attended the Dubai International Show 2023. Built by Abeking & Rasmussen in 2020 she was designed inside and out by Focus Yacht Design.She can accommodate 12 guests across six cabins. A master suite with a private terrace and a library located on the upper deck. Guests' staterooms are decorated according to a distinct theme, allowing owners to distribute staterooms according to their guests' preferences. On the lower deck Soaring has the wood-paneled beach club with a spa and wellness area complete with sauna, hammam and a well-equipped fitness room. The hot tub with a bar is located on the sundeck. In terms of performance, the twin MTU engines give her a top speed of 16 knots and allow her to cruise at 14 knots. Soaring’s last known asking price was EUR88,000,000.Abeking & Rasmussen was founded in October 1907. The German based shipyard is looking back to 114 years of ship and yacht building. The first hull of the 37-meter AB120 Beach launched by Italian builder AB Yachts in Viareggio yard. The biggest model of the shipyard’s fleet, she has an innovative multifunctional area at the stern with retractable terraces which extend the lounge areas a few centimeters above sea level. She has an easily-managed space for tenders and numerous water toys. Her notable features also included an extensive use of glass, especially in the main saloon, an open-air cinema, which is located on the sundeck and a convertible gym room. The interior can be fully customized, but in this hull the owners have the furniture by Flexform. AB120 can accommodate ten guests in four spacious staterooms on the lower deck and a crew of five. Thanks to a draft of 1.35 meters the yacht can easily cruise at the Caribbean and Bahamas. The yacht has an impressive top speed of 45 knots and cruise at 40 knots. Italian shipyard AB Yachts was founded in 1992. In 2001, AB Yachts was acquired by the Fipa Group. Today Next Yacht Group is the owner of the historic Maiora, AB Yachts, and CBI Navi brands. The 76-meter research yacht Petrel dislodged from the dry dock at the Imperial Docks area of Leith, Edinburgh. The 3,000-tonne vessel, now owned by the US Navy, is leaning at a 45-degree angle. The incident happened because of strong wind on Wednesday morning. Information about the incident began to arrive around 9 am.
