Boat shows, projects, launches and travel regulations – here’s what really caught our reader’s attention in October.
Austrian shipyard Silent-Yachts has sold the first unit right after unveiling a new flagship model, the Silent 100 Explorer, at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival. The yacht measures 31m overall with a beam of 13,62m and a spectacular height of 10,46m. Renewable electric energy comes from an array of solar panels in the hardtop that slides apart to reveal a sundeck that can also serve as a touch-and-go helipad.
After months of strict travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Thailand is gearing up for a return to normalcy by easing some travel restrictions and quarantine requirements and allowing normal tourists to enter the country. The government has introduced Sandbox programs allowing vaccinated travelers to enter the country without quarantine. The programme has started from November 2021.
French based studio VPLP Design has revealed the 45m super trimaran concept Seaffinity in October. The aluminium yacht is equipped with two Oceanwings, and with a hybrid engine, powered by electricity produced by a fuel cell and hydrogen. According to the studio, she is open to the sea, inspired by the sea, inspired by birds like seagulls, inspired by their lightness and fluidity but also by their beauty.
The launch of the largest superyacht to date built by Dutch shipyard, the 117m Project Y719 immediately brought readers attention. The Project Y719 was launched from the Oceanco Alblasserdam facility, where she was moved from the construction yard in Zwijnenburg for outfitting. The five decks vessel’s interior was penned by Sinot Yacht Design and the exterior design is the work of Espen Oeino.
