Last week the latest Amels 60 began her series of sea trials on the North Sea. Following her award-winning sistership Come Together and the customized Entourage, the next Amels 60 features a distinctive exterior design by Espen Oeino with signature geometric windows. The contemporary interiors are by Winch Design.

The Amels 60, with its 830GT, offers a spacious layout that can accommodate up to 12 guests and 13 crew members. The design of the yacht prioritizes an exceptional user experience and features one of the largest sun decks in its size category, spanning 162 sqm. This expansive area includes such amenities as a hot tub with a swim-jet function for six guests, a shaded dining table and bar, a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen, a teppanyaki grill, and a cinematic setup for memorable movie nights under the stars. The touch-and-go helipad serves a dual purpose as a sunbathing spot or a unique gym area.

On the main deck, the owner's suite offers large windows and a spacious 7 sqm balcony. The suite also includes a beam-to-beam bathroom and a walk-in closet located at the forward side.

The guest deck, situated alongside the beach club, features four guest suites. Each suite comfortably accommodates two guests and is equipped with en-suite bathrooms. The beach club provides direct access to the swim platform, and it offers additional amenities such as a sauna, a steam shower, a comfortable seating arrangement and ample storage space for water toys.

The Amels 60 incorporates the latest in technology, boasting an advanced hybrid propulsion system supplied by Amels. This system not only reduces fuel consumption and exhaust emissions but also extends the lifespan of the generators and main engines. Furthermore, it significantly reduces vibration and noise for a more comfortable onboard experience. Two luxury tenders can be stowed out of sight on the foredeck thanks to a clever storage solution.

“This proven hybrid system currently offers the best solution to reduce harmful emissions, reduce noise and vibrations while benefiting from lower fuel and maintenance costs. It also allows you to cruise up to a certain speed without using the main engines, solely cruising on the generators,” says Joppe Osté, Project Manager at Damen Yachting.

The new 60-meter superyacht is currently for sale at Damen Yachting. As a very appealing opportunity for buyers in the new-build market, the next Amels 60 will be ready in August 2023 to let her Owner enjoy the height of the summer season.

As a continuation of the popular Amels Limited Editions collection, the Amels 60 series comprises two delivered superyachts and four under construction since its introduction in 2019.

Damen Yachting, a division within the Damen Shipyards Group, was created in 2019. The division combines the pedigree and heritage of Amels yachts with a growing portfolio of SeaXplorer yachts and Yacht Support vessels.

46m Scintilla Maris Completes 11,000 Nautical Mile Shakedown Cruise
The 45.6-meter converted trawler Scintilla Maris has concluded a rigorous 10-month shakedown cruise covering 11,000 nautical miles across the North Atlantic. Owner Erik Vonk and his wife departed the Netherlands in April 2024, undertaking an improvised route through Scotland's Outer Hebrides, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, and North America before returning to the shipyard. The expedition tested the Vripack-designed yacht's performance in challenging conditions, including 6-meter swells. Vonk reported the vessel maintained operational comfort throughout, particularly noting the effectiveness of the heat recovery system during Arctic transits where exterior temperatures plummeted. The open bridge configuration allowed guests to participate in navigation during the 700-nautical-mile crossing to Newfoundland. The cruise included extended stops at remote locations, with the yacht often being the only visiting vessel in areas like Scotland's Rum Island and the Faroe Islands. Local communities frequently greeted the crew, with Vonk recalling particularly hospitable receptions in Icelandic fishing villages where stays were repeatedly extended.Following successful completion of the transatlantic voyage, Scintilla Maris returned to the Netherlands to prepare for its first commercial charter season in Iceland. The yacht's conversion from industrial trawler to expedition vessel took 15 years, with Vonk emphasizing its dual capability for remote exploration and luxury accommodation."I spent 15 years perfecting a boat that takes you places where few other people go," Vonk stated. "Scintilla Maris combines battleship strength with the comfort and luxury of a boutique hotel." The shakedown cruise confirmed the vessel's ability to access isolated destinations while maintaining premium onboard facilities, including a country-style galley and skylit interior spaces.Credits: Vripack
