The Dutch yard has just announced the 5th sale in the passing year, with the 50-meter project Boreas ordered by an experienced client, who has in mind an extensive customization of the yacht.
The client, an experienced yacht owner, is said to have been originally attracted to the high-performance platform of the ongoing project Nova Plus based on the all-aluminum fast-displacement hull with a low 2.15 meter draft, combined with the classy exterior design by Omega Architects.
As he directly approached to Heesen, the customer set to work closely with the yard’s engineers to personalize his new yacht. First of all, he requested an additional helm station on the fly bridge, enabling him to pilot the boat himself. Further modifications will include reduced superstructure overhangs above the aft terraces, thus, allowing for more natural light, outdoor seating in front of the bridge for the crew, the sky-lounge with openable windows, as well as customized layout of the lower deck.
The interior conceived by Mark Whiteley Design and executed by Heesen in-house craftsmen team, will feature a traditional layout with the master stateroom on the main deck forward and 5 guest suites spread over the lower deck to accommodate 12 passengers onboard, while the crew will have 5 cabins at their disposal.
Powered by twin MTU 12V 2000 M72 engines (1080kW each), Project Boreas will reach a top speed of almost 20 knots. Meanwhile, at 12 knots she will have a transatlantic range of 3.750 nautical miles and a fuel consumption of approximately 98 liters an hour, which is relatively low for a 50-metre yacht of just under 500GT.
Project Boreas is scheduled for delivery in July 2019 after sea trials in the North Sea. The Dutch builder's order book for this year lists Alida, Antares, Ayla and Ruya renamed to Book Ends.
