Damen, parent company of Amels, has confirmed the sale of the first hull in its SeaXplorer series. The 65-meter will accommodate 12 guests and carry a crew of 20. Delivery is scheduled for 2019.

First introduced at last year's Monaco Yacht Show, images of the SeaXplorer range became part of the 10 most viral yacht images of 2015. The company had then stated that the SeaXplorers were designed to fill a gap in the market for luxury yachts with the capabilities of commercial ships.

The SeaXplorer 65 is a crossover between professional technology and superyacht exclusivity; it is proven capability where you need it, superyacht luxury where you want it.


With a beam of 14 meters and a draft of 4 meters, the SeaXplorer 65 will have a gross tonnage of near 2,000GT. The yacht is designed to reach a speed of 15 knots, propelled by close to 3,500kW. Amongst its amenities are a helipad, a helicopter hangar and a dive centre. Her garage was designed to carry up to 4 tenders, 4 jetskis and 1 submersible.

The expedition yacht will offer 40 days of autonomy without port call and will comply with the environmental and safety standards of the IMO Polar Code's B category. Features includes a zero discharge, waste management system, a high bridge with excellent visibility and enclosed bridge wings. The SeaXplorer hull will be able to break 90cm, first year ice.

Heesen reveals new 55m superyacht Project Gemini
For the first time Dutch yard Heesen has a collaboration with Luca Dini Design & Architecture on the third hull of its 55 metre Steel class series Project Gemini. The yacht will feature “muscular exterior lines” by Frank Laupman’s Omega Architects. Project Gemini is under the construction at the moment and due to have its hull and superstructure joined in March 2021. Project Gemini will have a “sophisticated interior décor” by Dini with a “geometric linear design” running throughout.Its key materials will consist of Tay wood and natural stone paired with marine leather wall panels and fabric-lined ceilings. The result will be a “zen” atmosphere of “elegant calm”, the yard said.The 760GT interior spreads over 400 square metres of luxury areas for owners and guests. The yacht will accommodate a total of 12 guests in six staterooms, including an 83 square metre full beam owner’s apartment forward of the main deck. The 760GT's key features include floor to ceiling windows for natural light and incredible ocean views.Other guest accommodation consists of two twins and two doubles on the lower deck and a VIP cabin on the bridge deck.Additionally, Project Gemini features a main saloon with two large bronze-mirrored ceiling panels and large vertical windows. You can also find a lounge adjacent to the formal dining area for 12.Project Gemini will also have an option for toys and tenders to be stored on the foredeck, opening up the lower deck aft to be dedicated to a beach club and wellness area.Gemini will be equipped with plentiful outdoor areas with a 110 square metre sun deck complete with a Jacuzzi, sunpads and central bar.The yacht will be powered by twin MTU 8V 4000 M63 IMO-Tier III diesel engines for a top speed of 15.5 knots and transatlantic range of 4,500 miles at 13 knots.Heesen chief commercial officer Mark Cavendish said: “YN 19755 Project Gemini is a wonderful addition to our commercial offer and complements our range of fast-delivery yachts, ideal for those clients who are cash rich and time poor.”Gemini follows the launches of 55 metre Steel class superyachts Solemates and Pollux.Heesen Yachts delivered its 55 metre steel class superyacht Project Castor as well as YN 19255 Project Pollux.Solemates sported a number of alterations to the first three 55 metre Steel Class yachts: a full beam sky lounge, a larger master stateroom of 73 square metres and larger lower deck suites.YN 19255 Project Pollux was launched at the facility in Oss in August 2020 and featured a new layout to emphasize her vast interior volume of approximately 760GT.
Sanlorenzo introduces brand new 36 metre SD118 Superyacht
Sanlorenzo has a new addition to its line of semi displacement yachts now with the 35.75 metre SD118 yacht model. It was reported that five units of the new yacht model had been already sold, with a version with interiors penned by Zuccon International Project and a second version with interiors styled by Patricia Urquiola.The SD118’s exterior design features a “wide-body hull” and “classic, traditional lines” which are the courtesy of Zuccon International Project.The boats's exterior has a forward outdoor living area that splits across two levels, both of which have access to the owner's cabin. In addition to that, the boat features a restyled stern, that has an option to be transformed into swim platform of 19 square metres, if the yacht is at anchor.The yacht is scheduled to be premiered at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival. One of its key features will include a beam of 7.9 metres and options to have two propulsion package options.Owners have an opportunity to choose a pair of MTU 10V2000M86 1380hp engines, for a top speed of 18 knots, or a pair of CAT Acert C32 1622hp engines, for a top speed of 19 knots. The SD118 is reported to have a cruising speed of 11 knots.The Sanlorenzo shipyard with headquarters in La Spezia, has been building motor yachts since 1958, with only a limited number of made-to-measure units per year.

Elandess - the winner of the 2019 Judges' Commendation World Superyacht Award
As we are continuing the series of the 16 winners of World Superyacht Awards , let's discuss boat number 15 - Elandess.Elandess won an Award in the category of Judges' Commendation.Elandess is a 74 m / 242′10″ luxury motor yacht. She was built by Abeking & Rasmussen in 2018. This adds up to a gross tonnage of 2065 tons. The motor yacht can accommodate guests in cabins. The yacht was designed by Harrison Eidsgaard.In May, 2018 YachtHarbour has reported that 74-metre Elandless was launched by Abeking & Rasmussen. Last week, she successfully completed her sea trials in Germany and now is on her way to Norway for the delivery to the owner. This is the owners' second yacht from the yard, there were another 60-metre yacht by Abeking & Rasmussen under name "Elandess" that was sold in 2016 for €52,500,500 and renamed Elysian. Elandess boasts interior and exterior design from the award-winning Harrison Eidsgaard of London and is built from steel and aluminium, with the gross tonnage of 2,065GT. Peder Eidsgaard and his talented team have created a uniquely distinctive vessel brimming with innovative design characteristics and inspired aesthetics. The brief was for a modern and spacious yacht with large lounging areas for enjoying both informal family time and entertaining on social occasions.
