The recently established Dutch builder Sichterman Yachts launched its first yacht, the 18-metre Inveni, in May 2019. The yard has just introduced another concept out of their range, the 15-metre Libertas.
Equal to other Sichterman yachts, the Libertas combines technological innovations with timeless design. The first Libertas has already been sold, and will be delivered to her owner in April 2020.
This versatile vessel combines everything needed for a delightful day out on the water, to explore long stretches of coast at a considerably high speed. It is also a perfect and trustworthy limousine tender that takes its owners to the harbour when they have anchored their superyacht off the coast and have the desire to set foot on land.
In 2018, Van Oossanen Naval Architects started to develop a new series of fast planing yachts within the Sichterman fleet in two versions. They represent a limousine version, allowing guests to sit on board and a day boat, with a saloon inside the hull.
The Libertas has a divergent hull shape from other Sichterman vessels that have been released thus far. This hull is specifically designed for high-speed boats, whilst other Sichterman yachts emphasised on cruise comfort.
The Libertas is the first Sichterman that uses the divergent hull shape, also planned to be deployed for other, larger Sichterman yachts in the future.
During construction, special consideration was given to the integration of the Volvo Penta IPS system in order to optimise speed, allow for ease of handling and maximum maneuverability. With the optimised hull lines by Van Oossanen, the Libertas is able to achieve speeds up to 40 knots with 2 times IPS 950 installed, making it one of the most fuel-efficient boats to sail the international waters.
At an average speed, the 15 metre can take her passengers for up to 500 nautical miles, meaning she can sail from Monaco to Ibiza, or from Capri to Sardinia and back, on one full tank. Safety and comfort are ensured by Seakeeper technology, which eliminates boat roll, and gangways that provide a safe way to the front deck.
The design, meanwhile, has been developed by Sichterman partner Cor D. Rover. The details aboard Libertas are to enhance pleasure and comfort, whether it is the joystick steering option that makes the yacht easy and fun to navigate, the on-board air compressor to inflate toys and equipment, or the private space to freshen up below deck before going on land.
