Dutch yachting industry is now to welcome one more member. Named after Dutch VOC merchant Jan Albert Sichterman, the new luxury yacht builder is set to combine family craftsmanship expertise with smart design, along with modern superyacht technologies.
At the moment, Sichterman is working on the development of aluminium fleet, ranging from 15 up to 26 meters, with four yachts already sold. The builder promises to combine sense of style, forward thinking design and technological innovations in their fleet.
Sichterman Yacht’s CEO Bart Rehe, explains:
I visited WJH Yachtservice in Workum (Friesland) back in 2015, exploring business for the Dutch sailing yachts Lemsteraken. Talking to Jelle Douma, frontman of WJH, our conversations shifted towards the development of innovative luxury motor yachts and the rare opportunity we had if we joined forces. Today, those conversations finally become reality.
Meanwhile, yacht builder Jelle Douma had to adjust to the shift towards motor yachts:
We’ve been producing Dutch sailing vessels for decades. This leap we took is an incredible adventure. Building a Sichterman challenges us to increase the quality of our work continuously, creating boats that last.
Further, the team was completed with yacht designer Cor D. Rover and Van Oossanen Naval Architects.
Cor D. Rover, responsible for the aesthetic design, states:
A Sichterman can be recognized by its modern feel, yet timeless design. The vertical bow creates a sense of robustness whilst making it one of the most efficient yachts in the market as well.”
At the same time, Van Oossanen Naval Architects have engineered comfortable yet stylish vessels. According to co-owner Niels Moerke, two major innovations were implemented in the Sichterman fleet, the Hull Vane and the Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). That combination will make the yacht generate less waves, have longer cruising range and lower fuel consumption.
With the first Sichterman unit almost ready for launch, the fleet is reported to set sail shortly.
