Cantieri di Pisa has unveiled the Polaris 48, the first model in a new series of steel and aluminum voyager yachts known for their versatility. Designed for long-range cruising, these yachts feature spacious exteriors with multifunctional terraces, ample amenities, and significant storage space to support extended voyages and access to remote bays.
The exterior design of the Polaris 48, and the entire range, is the work of Antonio Luxardo, while engineering is handled by Optima Design. The interior of this 48-meter yacht, with a beam of nearly 9 meters, is crafted by Parisotto + Formenton.
Antonio Luxardo remarked, “The new line features different types of boats and materials compared to the brand’s past production, but with immediately recognizable lines that tap into its traditional values. Polaris 48 is classified as a voyager because it has the range of an explorer but also offers incredibly versatile exteriors and highly sophisticated interiors. The main characteristic is the livability of the upper and main decks, which feature two large interconnecting water’s edge terraces that can be used in different ways and can accommodate everything needed to explore the surrounding area and play water sports.”
The main deck of the Polaris 48 includes a master suite, a VIP stateroom, and about 200 square meters of living space. This includes a 50-square-meter interior lounge and a 150-square-meter outdoor area, which features a flexible relaxation space that can also host a hot tub. This deck is equipped to accommodate three tenders (including an 8-meter model) or a rescue boat and two jet-skis. The gunwale opens to facilitate tender retrieval and to create additional guest space when the tender is in the water, transforming the area into a beach, covered terrace, or relaxation zone.
The upper deck has a dining area amidships and a large sea view terrace at the aft, complete with couches, chaises longues, sun pads, a bar, and two stairways leading down to the beach area.
In addition to the two cabins on the main deck, the lower deck houses four guest cabins and accommodations for eight crew members, while the captain's cabin is on the bridge deck. The shipyard offers customization options for the layout to meet owners' specific needs.
Interior design by Parisotto + Formenton features light-filled spaces with warm atmospheres using shades of brown and white. Drawing from the brand’s tradition, materials include pickled teak, carbon fiber, bronze, glass, and brass, evoking the old Akhir line. The design emphasizes a marine mood with sleek lines and extensive glazing, ensuring a continuous dialogue with light and sea views.
Optima Design, founded by Antonio Luxardo and Michele Zignego in 2004, is responsible for the engineering. The Eco High Power Hull (EHPH) displacement hulls are designed to ensure good performance and low fuel consumption.
The Polaris 48 is powered by two 1,650 hp V12 MAN engines, offering a range of approximately 4,000 miles at 10 knots and a top speed of 16 knots. The yard is also exploring hybrid propulsion options as an alternative to traditional technology.
Cantieri di Pisa shipyard was founded in 1945 on the river Arno, the Tuscan shipyard became famous for its planing motoryachts, such as the Akhir and Kitalpha series designed by Pierluigi Spadolini. Since 2021 Enrico Gennasio is the new owner of Cantieri di Pisa.
