The seventh annual Palma Superyacht Show will take place from 27 April to 1 May, 2019 at Moll Vell – Puerto de Palma. First started when a group of local brokers decided to get together to promote their yachts listings, the event has become solidly established on the international boat show calendar.
Palma, once voted “the best place to live in the world” according to The Sunday Times, is considered a top quality destination to visit. Offering first class boutique hotels, it also boasts a thriving old town, hosting some of the best restaurants in Europe. In addition to a wide range of cultural, gastronomic and sporting activities all within a short distance, Palma is also considered one of the centres of the Mediterranean yachting and has a thriving yachting industry.
This year’s Palma Superyacht Show is expected to have around 80 yachts on display. Aside from sleek sailing yachts in the 24-30-metre range, a selection of large motor yachts will be exposed to visitors’ attention. The 50-metre-plus yachts can easily accommodate 12-14 guests, boasting oversized Jacuzzis, Hamman and helipads and boast a wide cruising range.
The recovery of the financial market has contributed to the growth in the number of yachts at the show and increased number of exhibitors. The show has also benefitted from the support of the Balearic government and the collaboration between the public and the private sectors.
The 2019 edition will feature a new dedicated tender section. Following last year's success, an extended show area and a 72m floating bridge connecting STP shipyard to Palma's iconic fisherman's dock will reappear, along with popular FunFair tomfoolery with costumed performances and mime-acts.
Refit & Repair, a distinguished sector, will also benefit from an improved lay-out this year. A relocated bar/restaurant area will face the Refit & Repair area, so that stands will be easy to spot and the new set-up will make for a better viewing experience overall. Furthermore, Refit & Repair, now going into its third year, will feature 10% more stands in comparison to last year: a total of 28 companies will be present launching ‘break-the-mould’ products and speaking on tried-and-tested services.
The Palma Superyacht Show runs concurrently with the well established Boat Show Palma. The show is organised by the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association, a group of 6 international brokers, and is backed by the MYBA.
