In a very private ceremony in the presence of the owner, the keel of the first Sanlorenzo 72Steel was laid last Saturday, marking the official recognition of the start of construction of the future flagship of the superyacht fleet. The international broker house Edmiston, which finalized the sale, will also oversee the project management. The exterior lines and interior design will be addressed by Zuccon International Project and Francesco Paszkowski Design, in a project designed at 360 degrees around the concept of livability on board, in which the owner's cabin will have a dedicated deck; the owner deck, and interiors and exteriors will communicate in an intelligent and functional manner, thanks also to the extensive use of glazing.
The 72Steel spreads across five decks and a volume of 1850 GT. The yacht will be equipped with a hybrid diesel-electric motor system, the result of the shipyard's ongoing research into real solutions to reduce the environmental impact of its vessels. This system embodies the best green technology on the market today and represents a concentration of innovations that will make it possible to significantly reduce emissions in the atmosphere and at sea while maintaining a high level of comfort on board and by streamlining the spaces dedicated to the engine area in favor of the internal volumes for owners and guests.
At present, there are 22 steel and/or aluminum superyachts from 44 to 73 meters under construction. The yacht will be launched in 2025, the second unit of the same line has also been sold.
Sanlorenzo was founded in 1958 in Viareggio by yacht builder Gionvanni Jannetti. In 2005, Massimo Perrotti became the majority shareholder in the shipyard. Sanlorenzo builds yachts ranging from 28.60 to 62 meters in length.
