Take a detailed look inside the 65m superyacht Life Saga. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because her owner has a 42m Heesen boat of the same name.
"Zero showing off and totally functional," that is how the owner of the boat describes the custom superyacht, which was made for his needs. Though he doesn’t particularly want to show off, Life Saga’s exterior can not stay unnoticeable.
For the owner of Life Saga it was crucial that the superyacht represents his lifestyle, having a relaxed onboard atmosphere, and being able to spend as much time outside as possible. She cruises at 13 knots and reaches a top speed of 15.5 kn.
Life Saga has aggressive and modern lines, with the detail of a large double-height central window to let as much natural light flow as possible. She features an exterior design by Admiral and Unielle and an interior by Mark Berryman.
“Happily, the owner liked most of our favourite materials so there’s a lot of leather, oak, walnut, and teak on board,” says Interior designer Mark Berryman. “We’re not big fans of high-gloss finishes, so the woods have a much more tactile satin finish that invites you to touch them.” If you are familiar with the British designer’s work, you will recognize his typical elegant style.
The desire of the owner to spend as much as possible time outdoors is quite obvious the moment you step onboard Life Saga. Also, the owner likes to move quiet, that is why early on the Dutch specialist Van Capen was hired to ensure noise control. By mounting the two CAT 3152C engines on thick steel beams that wrap around the engine and the ceiling like a circle, a lot of the vibration and sound is eliminated.
Within the early stages of the design phase, the gallery was moved to the lower deck. This left space for a VIP suite on the main deck with a private lounge which can be converted into a suite cabin by closing a sliding wall.
The incredible beach club, which is opened from three sides, has sun pads, a spa pool, an “emotional shower”, sauna, gym exercise equipment, and a massage area.
The main deck is an open-air space that ensures proximity to the sea and sets new standards for conventional yacht layouts. The level is mainly taken by and indoor/outdoor living area, with no formal saloon being around.
No doubt, the owner is using and enjoying every inch of the superyacht. “Every space is my favourite because I wanted to build a boat myself, for myself, and to have only what makes me happy,” says the owner.
Life Saga is proving that functionality of yacht, as the owner requested in his brief, can easily go with aggressive, in a good way, and modern exterior, plus elegant and cozy interior.
