It's a new yacht that is making its appearance. HOP is 120 meters long concept which was designed by Iván Salas Jefferson, a 37-year-old designer from Palma de Mallorca, founder of Iddes Yachts.
Iván Salas Jefferson has worked for leading Dutch naval architecture studios such as De Voogt (Feadship), or the Oceanco bespoke superyacht builder. In addition, he collaborated with the refitting base Astilleros de Mallorca and with the Royal Falcon Fleet of Porsche.
"I'm trying to merge all knowledge from different fields of design to add value and make new projects in the studio, along with the team that includes Joan Gelabert, also a naval engineer and designer, and Andrea Polato, the architect, who will help promote a portfolio of both own projects and the demand of a future owner," highlights Iván Salas.
At first glance, the 120-meters megayacht looks like a two-story loft. If there is something remarkable in the HOP, it is the multi-spaces with which the owner to configure the boat of the designer Ivan Salas Jefferson on a really narrow sleeve. Thus, the aft area has a double stay in two heights that communicates the central area with the cabins and stays under cover. Composed of outdoor terraces and different spaces, including a double living room communicating with the rest of the rooms, it also has a large bay window. The latter has been designed to protect and give a feeling of openness to the outside.
The owner’s penthouse looks like a floating observatory, was designed with the aim to connect one with the environment and location. Guests can enjoy the feeling of sleeping outdoors yet being on a two-level loft with natural sunlight or night sky views thanks to the forward skylights.
The design allows for privacy leaving the rest of the interior open to flexible layouts to adapt to changes and needs of the owners, but always giving the feeling of freedom in the space.
The boat also takes into account the respect of the environment by reducing the environmental impact of the sector and accelerating the industry towards ecological navigation. Sustainability and self-sufficiency, thanks to the use of bioclimatic energies, are the strength of this model.
This innovative design in the world of luxury boats has allowed Iván Salas Jefferson to be among the finalists of the 2019 International Yacht & Aviation Awards, which will be awarded on May 24 in Venice. It will be a unique experience thanks to the configuration of yacht lines and the exterior layout of the entire hull. Now the design team needs to find a millionaire who makes this big dream come true.
This is the first time when a Spanish architect has built a yacht of this size. Last time in 2010, a Galician company designed the Pegaso in the Vigo port, a 72.8-meter long yacht for a Mexican millionaire.
Iddes Yachts believe design is all due to balance, the main dimensions for its reduced drag performance, the intelligent connectivity of geometrical shapes within an organic form results in a combination of well thought out spaces with minimum energy requirements.

Superyacht design studio Bannenberg & Rowell have released a new superyacht concept, the 43-metre Estrade. Bannenberg & Rowell describe this yacht to be designed for the soul, for relaxed and healthy living and, above all, to connect with the environment. The yacht can accommodate up to 10 guests and nine crew on board and ample space for toys.Key features include the beach club aft that folds out on both sides. Elsewhere, the cantilevered sunning deck overlooks the beach club, ensuring “positively no FOMO”, the studio said. Elsewhere, Estrade features a sundeck with a spa pool. The jet skis and tenders meanwhile are stored at the bow.

Project Mana, the third hull in Dutch yard Mulder's ThirtySix series, has been launched and ready to begin sea trials at the North Sea.ThirtySix features a bespoke modern exterior with sleek aluminium construction and a continuous window line which culminates in a contemporary plumb bow. The four-cabin version accommodates eight guests on board. Five spacious cabins onboard accommodate up to ten guests. Both the four and five-cabin layout have Pullman beds in the forward guest cabins.The saloon, dining room and bar area are located on the main deck, with floor to ceiling windows providing panoramic views. The dining experience is enhanced by the addition of a folding side balcony, which brings seascape panoramas right to the table.The sun deck above the aft deck and main saloon include generous seating, lots of sun pads, a whirlpool bathtub with room for eight and a comfy dining place.The design features the Van Oossanen patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) to ensure comfortable sailing and fuel economy at all speeds. Twin 847 kW engines will ensure a maximum speed of 16.8 knots. The fuel consumption at economic cruising speed of 11 knots is less than 80 litres per hour.

Horizon Yachts has begun construction of a 32m customised CC98 yacht. Horizon Custom Collection 98 is fourth Horizon vessel for the experienced Australian owner, who requested specific – and somewhat challenging – details including accommodations for a helicopter as well as a submarine.The new owner requested that his new yacht would feature an exterior style similar to the Horizon E Series yachts. Thus, this new CC98 has a unique exterior profile, with expansive windows and a spacious interior within a 23’ 6” beam.To accommodate a touch-and-go helipad, the entire superstructure of this new vessel will be constructed of carbon fibre composite for strength and structural integrity for the helipad. Also, this yacht features a telescoping mast and radar arch to navigate the low bridges in Australia.The yacht can accommodate up to five guests in five staterooms including a full-beam, on-deck master suite. A large galley area is positioned aft on the main deck to facilitate dining either on the aft deck or at the interior dining table. Relaxation and entertaining areas are found throughout and the foredeck has been designed to accommodate a jacuzzi and large sun pad.The yacht has commercial-grade 10V 2000 series MTU engines have been chosen. The ZF trailing gearboxes are designed for full redundancy and to enable the ability to run on one motor, which reduces fuel burn and engine hours. Lithium-ion battery packs will also be installed to offset the house functions such as air conditioning and general electricity. The fuel capacity is 24,600l.The yacht is on schedule to be delivered to her owner in early 2021.

The new Riva 88 yacht is the first model to be launched by the Shipyard in 2020. The yacht was launched on Monday, 25th May in La Spezia, where the production facility dedicated to the 76-to-110-foot models is based.The Riva 88’ Folgore is the result of the collaboration between Officina Italiana Design, the studio founded by Mauro Micheli along with Sergio Beretta, the Product Strategy Committee headed by Engineer Piero Ferrari, and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.According to Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group "Riva 88’ Folgore looks like a vessel just back from a journey into the future: she is a dazzling flash of style, she is strong, she is performing, she is innovation. The launch of the first new model in 2020 represents a new Renaissance for the Ferretti Group, which restarts from Riva, brand becoming more and more a contemporary myth, the essence of Made in Italy and a tangible sign of a Country that starts again."The lines and elements inspired by the automotive world. The yacht use of innovative materials like carbon with traditional stylistic elements such as mahogany inlays and steel decorations.Riva 88’ Folgore offers the owner stern concept, with the garage door that swings open and can be positioned in two ways. The cockpit is a large space of 22 m² that features a huge sofa area with a table and also a bar unit with an electrically opening marble top.Also, the yacht has the glass hardtop located on the superstructure, which opens up and can be tilted toward both the stern and bow, to let in fresh air during navigation or when at anchor. The interiors were renewed in using precious materials such as wood, steel, marble and glass.
