Heesen Yachts has launched 55-metre steel class superyacht Project Castor in Oss. The yacht on schedule for delivery in August.

The fourth hull in Heesen's 55 metre Steel Class series, Project Castor sports exterior design by Omega Architects' Frank Laupman.
Key exterior features include vertical floor to ceiling windows in the forward section of the main deck, as well as full-height windows in the main saloon and sky lounge.
The 760GT yacht also features a fast-displacement hull designed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects.

The yacht sports exterior design by Omega Architects. Interior design has been undertaken by Bannenberg & Rowell, the eighth collaboration between the design studio and Dutch yard. Key interior materials include “signature woods and natural stones” with a “warm colour palette”.

Thanks to the drastic measures adopted early on in production processes and in the offices, the team managed to introduce the necessary physical distance and were, therefore, able to carry on work following the Dutch governmental guidelines with as little disruption as possible. By halving the number of employees working in the shipyard at any one time by working in two shifts, Heesen did not lose productivity and increased flexibility.
According to client representative Rupert Connor of the Luxury Yacht Group said: “We have been beyond impressed with how the Heesen team adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have adjusted their working hours to increase social distancing yet retain optimal man-hours on our project and preserve an on-time, high-quality delivery which is no small feat in these challenging times.”
The yacht powered by two MTU 8V 4000 M63 diesel main engines, Project Castor will have a top speed of 15.5 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 13 knots.
