Galactica, a 50 meter yacht built by Heesen in 2007, has been sold following a €1.5m price reduction in February 2016. At the time of sale, Galactica was asking 19,500,000€ through Yachtzoo and has now been renamed to Red Sapphire. The yacht was first marketed for sale in March 2015.




M/Y Galactica
Part of the shipyard's successful 'Pelican Bow' series, Galactica was Heesen's flagship at the time of launch, in 2007. According to multiple reports, Galactica's previous owner was Mr Vagit Alekperov, Russia's 9th richest man.
In 2008, Mr. Alekperov purchased Heesen Yachts from founder, Frans Heesen, for a reported sum of 100 million euros according to an investigation by Forbes Russia. In 2013, the shipyard posted profits of €5.2m according to the same report.

Refitted in 2010 and 2014, Galactica is built out of aluminium to a fully custom design by Omega Architects. The yacht was built to very demanding requirements and can provide dining space for up to 14 guests on the sun deck with suitable wind and sun protection.
Capable of accommodating 12 guests in 6 cabins, Galactica boasts a large master cabin, accessible through a library/cinema room, complete with continuous windows that offer great views of the yacht's surroundings. From a technical standpoint, the yacht can reach a top-speed of 26 knots and is fitted with zero-speed stabilizers.
In March 2016, Heesen launched its newest flagship, the 70m Galactica Super Nova (Project Kometa) which was built for Mr. Alekperov according to Dutch publication, Quote.
