Rock XL is the new 33m in-build explorer yacht model. The Dutch design firm Vripack has unveiled two new models for its Rock series.
Rock XL
The 33m Rock XL and 42m Big Rock, following the success of the 24m Rock (which recently began construction on hull number three at the Turkish Evadne Yachts shipyard). The 33m Rock XL is the bigger brother and will soon commence construction. The 42m Big Rock is the daddy of the group, and it’s ready to get down to business.

“We took all the key elements of the 24m Rock and made it bigger and better,” comments Vripack designer Robin de Vries on the Rock XL design process. “And that may sound simple, but at the core of that premise is an evolved owner and guest experience.”
The success of Rock’s compact SUV status is self-evident. What is clear from the outset is that all three yachts that make up the Rock series are designed to serve the owners’ requirements to the fullest across three different size ranges, while maintaining the robust and spacious nature of Rock’s masculine design DNA.

The key features of Rock XL, which commenced construction in September 2020, are a 265GT interior and storage for a 5.6m tender at the transom.
All of the guest cabins are 50% bigger. The owner’s quarter, which comprises a private spa, gym, office, bedroom and terrace area, is more than double in size, with the master suite enlarged from 20 sq m to a substantial 45 sq m.
Rock XL offers owners a whopping 50% increase in total living space. The additional 9m in length has been put to use in the enlarged sky lounge, offering direct access to the expanded sky deck. Equipped with a dedicated swimming pool and lounge area, it strengthens the connection between the interior and exterior. The owner’s stateroom on Rock XL includes a dedicated private office alongside one of Rock’s most celebrated features – the drop-down balcony at water level.

“The original Rock is now owned by a Swiss client who gets heavy use out of the yacht,” says de Vries. “They are on board for six months of the year and treat it as their home at sea. The bonus for us is that all of the owner’s feedback that we receive is implemented in the subsequent designs and build.”
A large amount of sustainability-focused technology implemented by Vripack and Evadne Yachts on Rock will also be carried through to the two new designs, meaning owners can look forward to silent nights with the onboard lithium battery pack. And thanks to Vripack’s proven engineered platform, the series benefits from a shortened build time – an estimated 16 months.
Vripack is a yacht-design studio with a portfolio that represents over 7400 designs, made strong through its extensive naval architecture and engineering experience. From the moment they opened their doors in 1961, Vripack studio’s approach to design has been governed by the playful interaction between form and function.
