A 62.4-metre Amels 206 from the Limited Editions lineage is currently under construction at the company's facility in the Netherlands. She represents evolution of the Tim Heywood-designed Amels 199 yachts Event, Madame Kate and Sea & Us.
First introduced in 2017, the concept is distinct through her round windows and ‘Scimitar’ axe-derived bow form by Tim Heywood, who comments:
«The boat is full of details, little surprises, little differences. Aft of the wing station, the form of the boat shoots up to the deck above and then I changed the tumblehome from in to out – from positive to negative – and it makes such an interesting form.»
Amels 206 received extended bathing platform (compared to Amels Limited Editions 199), measuring 29 square metres. Meanwhile, the aft deck has been elongated and the superyacht beach club now spans a total area of 35 square metres. Furthermore, large folding balconies add up to abundant outdoor space of 429 square metres.
However, the central point of attraction is the yacht’s massive top deck with sun loungers aft and a hexagonal spa pool forward, stretching alltogether at 23 metres. The vessel also carries some of the iconic features of Amels 199, such as large circular portholes or the gull wing doors providing access to the foredeck tender garage.
The tender store covers 64 square metres, capable to fit a 8-metre luxury tender, a 6.2-metre rescue/crew tender, 2 waverunners, seabobs, slides, inflatables along with dive equipment and wetsuits.
Interior space with the volume of 1,131 GT features designs by Italy-based Laura Sessa. The design was inspired by both abstract art with its bold colours and minimalistic contemporary trends.
Speed wise, Amels 206 will feature a maximum speed of 16.5 knots and cruise comfortably at 13 knots under a range of 5,000 nautical miles.
The yacht offers accommodation to up to 12 guests in six cabins, including full-beam owners suite with circular windows on Main Deck, 2 VIP Suites on Bridge Deck and 3 Guest Suites on Lower Deck. The latter together with central staircase provide direct access to the Beach Club and fitness area with sauna and steam shower.
The new vessel is scheduled for delivery in spring 2020. As to general activity of the builder, Amels Limited Editions 188 yacht (due for launch next year) and the first Amels 220 superyacht Aurora Borealis (at her completion stage) are listed among the Dutch yard’s current noticeable projects.
