The 55-metre motor yacht Vida by Dutch yacht builder Heesen has left Dutch waters for her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean, to meet her new owners there.
The yacht features fast displacement hull form (FDHF), representing the third project in Heesen FDHF steel class series. With muscular exterior outline by Frank Laupman, Omega Architects, one of the distinctive hallmarks of the vessel’s layout are french windows designed to get the most of the natural light on-board.
Built to Lloyds, this is also the first yacht in Heesen fleet to comply with the latest emissions regulations, thanks to a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system that reduces NOx in exhaust emissions.
Vida’s owner, experienced American yachtsman and sport fisherman, worked closely with the shipyard’s engineers to customise his new yacht and make her the mothership of his sport fishing fleet. Thus, Vida is able to refuel and recharge the owner’s Bayliss 60 and Bayliss 68 sportfish yachts, enabling the guests and the owners to spend several days offshore without returning to the base.
As to interior concept, the owner commissioned Be Design Associates, a design bureau based in Florida, for whom Vida became the first new-build yacht project. The designers chose natural environmentally friendly materials to prevail within the inner decoration.
Meanwhile, the colour palette has been mainly based on warm and soft colours. The main saloon is decorated with an impressive backlit ivory onyx arch, displaying wine cellar for 21 bottles per side. More backlit ivory onyx can be found in the statement staircase, featuring floating steps. Alternating strips of fumé mirror and lacquered wood form the basis of an intricate geometric design.
The yacht’s interior volume amounts to 740 GT, with the accommodation provided to 12 guests within five cabins on the lower deck and a 80-squere-metre master suite forward on the main deck.
The outdoor areas include a spacious 100-square-metre sundeck, along with a pool that features a waterfall. At night, this space becomes the perfect party area complete with a starred ceiling, a large and fully equipped bar, and a colourful ambience created by the pool’s LED lights.
Guests can also enjoy the generous 80-square-metre beach club, in which Vida’s owner has specified a fully equipped gymnasium. A large fixed aft swim platform makes the access to the water extremely easy and comfortable.
The yacht underwent extensive sea trials in March, demonstrating the top speed of 16.4 knots. Propelled by two MTU 8V4000 M63 diesel engines, Vida cruises comfortably at 13 knots under a range of 4,500 nautical miles.
Vida will make her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2019. As to other recent activities of the Dutch builder, it has lately launched 50-metre superyacht Masa.
