Originally launched by Amels in 1999, a 52-metre motor yacht Seahorse is now undergoing significant refit at La Ciotat Monaco Marine facility. The renovation that begun in November 2018, will embrace paint work, interior refit, class survey, etc.
The yacht was already refitted in 2016. Still, her new owner who had bought Seahorse in 2017, has decided to give her some pampering and distinctive upgrades. The project is being managed by the shipyard team and Ocean Independence, along with the ship’s crew.
The range of works on the yacht originally designed by Terence Disdale, will include some general maintenance, the 20-year Lloyd's survey, extension of the aft at 1 metre, repainting and comprehensive makeover of the interiors. The paint shed is meanwhile reported to be one of the main assets of the shipyard, promising to result in advanced paint works.
“It is a genuine pleasure to bring Seahorse to Monaco Marine La Ciotat. The works we will bring together expertise from all departments, from mechanical to refit and renovation, in order to maintain Seahorse unique character”, explains Nicolas Genelot, La Ciotat general manager.
Seahorse features a beam of 9 metres and a draft of 3.1 metres, she has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. With a power of 1200 HP engines, she reaches a maximum speed at 16 knots, cruising comfortably at 14 knots. The motor yacht with interior volume of 609 tonnes can accommodate up to12 guests in 5 cabins.
The yacht’s refit will last three more months, ensuring that Seahorse leaves the yard in peak condition.
Monaco Marine, meanwhile, has recently expanded its facilities network, opening new refit yards in Marseille and La Seyne-Toulon. The first one specialises in the refit and repair of 30-55-metre yachts, with accommodation capacity of 28 superyachts at a time. The Marseilles facility is designed for larger vessels of up to 160 metres in length.
What is more, Monaco Marine became one of four designated partners for a leading Dutch builder Feadship within their new Feadship Refit & Services department in 2018.
