Moonen Yachts has successfully completed sea trials for Moonshine, a 36.3-meter yacht from their semi-custom Martinique line. This vessel marks the sixth unit in the series, reflecting the Dutch shipyard's commitment to quality and performance.
John Bechtold, Moonen’s Project Manager, reported that Moonshine performed exceptionally well during the trials in the North Sea. "The entire build team was proud to see Moonshine cruising through her sea trials," he stated. "We are dedicated to maintaining Moonen’s reputation for top-notch quality and meticulous attention to detail. During the sea trials, numerous components operate simultaneously for the first time, and it's rewarding to witness the yacht's outstanding performance. It speaks volumes about the Martinique's proven design and build quality."
The sea trials included various tests such as class survey and certification, calibration, and maneuvering. These trials also allowed the crew to familiarize themselves with the yacht alongside Moonen's technical team.
This sixth Martinique model, designated as yard number YN204, is a product of Moonen's fast displacement steel hull series. Represented by Neal Esterly from Fraser Yachts, the owners chose Moonen Yachts for their build due to the shipyard's reputation for excellence in this size range and yacht type. Customizations were made to meet the owners' specific requirements, including length adjustments to fit a particular location with a restricted length allowance.
Designed by René van der Velden, the Martinique’s exterior architecture emphasizes natural light, stunning views, and a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. With a maximum speed of 17 knots and transatlantic capability, Moonshine offers exceptional comfort, spaciousness, and stability.
Moonshine is set to be delivered to her owners and will spend her inaugural season in the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, Moonen Yachts is working on the seventh Martinique model, YN205, which is currently for sale and expected to be available for delivery in April 2025.
Moonen Yachts is a yacht builder based in the Netherlands, and its first yacht was built in 1964 under the original yard name of De Ruiter. In 1981, the yard was renamed Moonen Shipyards. It’s launching its first vessel under new ownership: Alhena. In 2017 Moonen Shipyards changed into Moonen Yachts. With the help of strong vision, innovative technology and new designers, Moonen is once again becoming the market leader in 30m to 50m luxury yachts.
