Dutch shipyard has revealed a concept for a new 38-metre explorer yacht. Designed by Guido de Groot, the Continental Five has a masculine character. "Van der Valk has been around for more than half a century and it has been a pleasure to work with them over the past three years as they have increased their presence in the superyacht sector", de Groot said. "The yard is easy to communicate with and highly professional. We have designed a number of completely new models and three yachts have already been successfully delivered", he continued.
Though the range has been developed, clients are offered to choose from two options: a full displacement version with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure or an all-aluminum fast-displacement vessel.
Even in the toughest weather conditions the superyacht will offer a premium performance. Powered by twin CAT C18 ACERT diesel engines, the Continental Five will be easily capable of transatlantic passages.
The vessel's design features a tri - deck exterior layout that gradually slopes down to main deck where the main deck aft has been kept open for easy launching and retrieving of tenders and watersport toys. This space can also be adapted in the design to house a large swimming pool or a helipad.
"The Continental Five is the largest design to be unveiled to date and we are especially proud of the flexible layout possibilities of this 38-metre yacht", stated de Groot.
