As Otam prepares to celebrate its 70th anniversary, the Unit #3 of the Otam 70HT, designed by Giuseppe Bagnardi of BG Design Firm with hull lines by Umberto Tagliavini Marine Design, has been successfully delivered to its owner. This yacht will make its international debut at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
With a strong emphasis on fuel efficiency, Otam has gone the extra mile to meet the owner's requests for improved performance at speeds exceeding 40 knots. This has been made possible through the skillful use of lightweight yet sturdy materials such as Aramat, Kevlar, and carbon fiber.
Matteo Belardinelli, Otam's Sales & Communication Manager, explains that this particular yacht belongs to an owner-operator who appreciates technical prowess and intends to utilize the yacht year-round in various sea conditions. The owner's choice of Otam was driven by the shipyard's renowned bespoke approach, as they were confident that Otam could fulfill their meticulous requirements, both technically and aesthetically. To ensure comfort throughout the year, the owner requested heating, air conditioning, and heated floors in the bathrooms.
The owner's specific requests also included moving the generators aft, prompting the in-house engineering team to conduct a comprehensive study on weight distribution to maintain optimal handling and performance. Additionally, a co-pilot station was added, equipped with the same navigation and monitoring equipment as the main helm station.
While Unit #3 shares similarities with its predecessors in terms of the version without a tender garage and side-access to the aft cockpit, it boasts several unique features. The owner insisted on having the largest possible rigid sliding rooftop, allowing for natural ventilation both at anchor and while underway. Furthermore, the yacht features marble countertops cut from a single block of stone, ensuring consistent veining throughout.
The lower deck of the Otam 70HT comprises three cabins, a galley, and crew quarters with independent access from the foredeck. The main deck offers a dinette and a second galley.
The next available customisable hull in the series can be delivered in just 12 months ‘key in hand.’
The shipyard’s history started in 1954 in Liguria. Its professionalism is what made it stand out, very quickly becoming the first authorized Riva yacht Service Center for the Med Sea. In the 80’s Otam fit around 25 yachts for an American builder before starting his own production of Otam 45’ and 55’, earning significant attention. Today Otam has produced around 90 yachts, becoming an Italian specialist, and, together with its custom range, offers a limitless choice between 45’ and 130’.
