A new 38.1 meter yacht named Iron Man made its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2015 last month. Built by well-known Italian shipyard Benetti, it is the second superyacht in the newly formed Fast Displacement Class.
As a smaller version of Benetti's 140 Veloce series, Superyacht Iron Man, internally known as Vivace 125, was launched earlier in June this year before its public debut at the festival last week. Just like the name suggests, the superyacht is heavily inspired by Marvel's fictional character Iron Man. The young owner shares Tony Stark's love for technology and wanted the same in his yacht.
The exterior of Iron Man has been fitted with expansive guest areas. The sun deck has been kept open with a selection of free-standing furniture that can easily be moved to suit any occasion. Guests can relax in the Jacuzzi and sunbathe on the generous foredeck.
The interior was performed by Miami based designer Alfred Karram Jr, who adopted the owner's youthful spirit and request for a stylish, yet user friendly space. "The goal of the design concept for the Ironman project was to create a one of a kind space that would boast a highly innovative modern aesthetic through the use of sharp and dramatic geometries," says Karram.
A mix of the latest technologies was brought onboard the yacht. In addition to that, an interior theme with cues that mirror Iron Man's style was created. The ceiling is finished in black and white, there is an extensive use of grey wood and dark glass on various elements but it's the crystal dining table that tops its all.
The yacht has a four cabin layout for 8 guests, with a full beam master suite forward on the main deck.
Iron Man is propelled by an Azipull Rolls-Royce AZP65C assisted by two MTU 16V 2000 M94s rated at 2600 hp each. All that enables it to achieve a maximum speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots. Furthermore, while cruising at 12 knots the yacht has a range of 1250 nautical miles.
