Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a leading Italian superyacht brand SNO Yachts for the construction of Nautilus 45. A first-in-class superyacht shadow and explorer vessel will be built for one of SNO Yacht’s existing clients. While the state-of-the-art platform will be built by ADSB in the UAE, SNO Yachts will carry out the final outfitting in Italy. David Massey, CEO of ADSB, and Andrea Pirro, Chairman of SNO Yachts, signed the strategic deal at the Abu Dhabi pavilion during the Monaco Yacht Show 2021.

The Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Maritime welcomed ADSB to participate at the Abu Dhabi ‘Parvis Piscine’ stand to promote the UAE’s capital as a leading tourism destination with world-class facilities for superyachts, mega events, natural islands to visit, and exceptional routes connecting the east and west. Throughout the four day event, the Abu Dhabi team highlighted the latest products and services to key players in the industry through an interactive exhibit.

Heesen Shipyard Mourns the Loss of Founder Frans Heesen
Heesen Yachts has announced the passing of its founder, Frans Heesen, on April 23, 2025, in his hometown of Oss. He is survived by his wife Petra, children, and grandchildren.Frans Heesen’s leadership and talent for identifying and nurturing potential were fundamental to the success and growth of Heesen Yachts. Known for his visionary approach and Dutch courage, Heesen took bold steps that shaped the future of the shipyard.One of his most notable achievements was the decision to build the groundbreaking yacht Octopussy, despite significant risks. This project not only succeeded but also brought global recognition to Heesen Yachts.Throughout his career, Frans dedicated himself to creating a family-like atmosphere at the shipyard. Even after the company was sold, the family environment he established remained strong. The values he instilled continue to define the company’s culture today.Heesen Yachts expressed its deepest condolences to Frans’ family and friends, noting that while his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit and vision will continue to guide the company.Frans Heesen’s contributions have left a lasting impact on the yachting industry and on everyone who had the opportunity to work with him.
