Partnering two Italian powerhouses, the 279-foot Fincantieri Ottantacinque yacht concept designed by Pininfarina is sure to be a modern maritime masterpiece when built. Named after the Italian word for 85 (its length in meters), the luxury concept combines Fincantieri"s 230 years of experience (having built over 7,000 boats) and Pininfarina"s elegance and sophisticated style.
Ottantacinque is an impressive project that opens up the interior and exterior spaces. The twin pools are flexible, where the water level can be adjusted and even emptied completely to create a large entertainment platform.
An outdoor dining and lounge area farther forward leads to the main saloon. Inside, a bar and a large dining table will flank a vast and generously appoint central lounge that can also serve as cinema space. On the lower level, guests can gather at another bar or bathe themselves at the spa. At anchor, the transom and four side platforms will lower to form over 1,800 square feet of beach club with easy access to the water. An infinity pool and veranda will be included in a deck devoted to the owner. Guests onboard can expect deluxe accommodations in six cabins, with an additional 11 cabins for the 19 staff and crew.
This is not the first time the Fincantieri and Pininfarina have successfully come together: they created the amazing 60-knot gas-turbine-powered Destriero in 1991.
Of Ottantacinque, Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, says: "Thanks to this stunning project, resulting from the partnership with Pininfarina, not only do we enhance our position in the sector with the highest industrial level collaboration, but also we are an Italian real point of reference in a market that, as all luxury niches, highly demands the capacities and taste of our country".
"The result is a sculptural floating home with elegant and dynamic areas, where style meets function, aerodynamics, on-board comfort and ergonomics. Every detail is designed to harmonize with the aesthetic theme of the yacht," says Paolo Pininfarina, chairman of Pininfarina.
Ottantacinque will have a top speed of 18 knots delivered by twin diesel engines, with a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. The yacht concept was announced by Fincantieri on September 23 at the Monaco Yacht Show.
