In a strategic move to streamline the yacht design process, Oceanco, the Dutch shipyard, has unveiled its innovative "Simply Custom" concept during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2023. The approach introduces a series of 17 unique 80-meter superyacht proposals, offering clients a simplified route to yacht ownership.
Termed "Simply Custom" the approach prioritizes a straightforward commissioning process, leveraging a proven naval platform by Lateral Naval Architects. Clients benefit from a distinctive exterior design that can be extensively personalized, coupled with the option for a fully customized interior. Oceanco's group marketing director, Paris Baloumis, emphasized the desire to simplify the building experience for owners who may be time-constrained and prefer to entrust technical matters to experts.
Collaborating with renowned designers like Espen Oeino, Harrison Eidsgaard, Sinot, and Nuvolari Lenard, each yacht in the series will measure 80 meters and fall within the 2,500 – 2,700 GT range. The decision to focus on the 80-meter sector is strategic, allowing Oceanco to maintain flexibility and respond to cruising restrictions in certain regions.
The Simply Custom collection is supported by five interior design studies, including Laura Sessa, Njord by Bergman, and Dasha Moranova Design. Oceanco aims to inspire clients by showcasing examples of their work, facilitating the customization process.
Notably, the proposed yachts will incorporate an electric propulsion architecture, aligning with the latest technological innovations. While the Simply Custom initiative is designed to offer a more accessible and streamlined approach, Oceanco remains committed to its hallmark fully custom projects, emphasizing that this development is a logical addition to their diverse portfolio.
Oceanco was founded in 1987. Right now it is a world-class builder of custom superyachts up to the 140 meters range. Oceanco works with world-known designers such as Terence Disdale, Nuvolari-Lenard, Espen Oeino, Sam Sorgiovanni, Igor Lobanov, Tim Heywood and Andrew Winch to create some of the timeless and award-winning yachts afloat today.
