The new Wally 110 Barong D was successfully launched during a private ceremony hosted by her owners, gathering all the people involved in the design and construction of the sailing superyacht.



The 33,5 meter Barong D is the third Wally delivered to a repeat client, an experienced yachtsman who replaced his Wally 94 Barong C, which in turn in 2005 substituted his first Wally, the 80-footer Barong B of 2000.
 


The Frers naval architecture created the latest generation hi-performance superyacht characterized by the wide hull uniquely camouflaged by classic lines reflecting Barong D’s cruising attitude.

The full 3D engineering optimized both the design and the construction.  The construction used the latest pre-preg carbon technology throughout the yacht. Advanced technologies and materials have been used also for both the electrical system resulting with light weight switchboards and cables and a specific yacht monitor & control system, and for the hydraulic system that provides the 350 bar max pressure and the electro valves controlled by a dedicated software to optimize the speed of the manoeuvres. 



The interiors have been built in blocks to achieve the maximum quality while reducing the weight. High modulus carbon mast and furling boom, carbon rigging, titanium deck hardware and fittings, resin and vacuum bonding of the teak wood to the deck,  lightened interiors (PVC core joinery, carbon soles and ceiling supports): every component has been meticulously developed to produce such a state-of-the-art superyacht reflecting the Wally DNA to improve the on the water enjoyment while increasing the safety.

Additionally, the new Wally 110 features all the Wally technologies that we have developed since we started in 1994 through the extensive R&D programme unique to our brand, that is constantly carried out to further improve the product. These features, that we pioneered and are now adopted by the whole of the industry,  include  the Wally flush-deck, the Wally sail handling system with the self-tacking jib and push-button sail trimming via the hydraulic rams, the Wally submarine anchor, the rig with swept back spreaders and no running backstays

As it often happens with happy owners, Barong D is the larger evolution of their previous yachts, featuring similar style and deck and interior layouts

On deck, the new Wally 110 features the slim teaked coach roof, the large social cockpit amidships, the manoeuvring and navigation area with four winches (dedicated to the halyards and the gennaker sheets) and the twin helm stations, and the aft sun bathing area.



The interior layout reflects the owners’ extensive cruising requirements, featuring the forward Owner’s suite with two large separate beds to favour the comfort under sail, a double guest cabins on each side, and a spacious main saloon amidships. The crew and service area with galley, crew mess, two double cabins, and the engine room is aft to provide max privacy. All cabins have en-suites. The interior styling is developed by Wally and combines pickled oak for the joinery with dark blue upholstery and gloss carbon soles.



The outside colour scheme is also very elegant combining the majestic blue of the hull with the blonde teak and beige upholstery.


 
Barong D is the 44th sailing yacht launched by the Monegasque brand.
Her delivery is scheduled at the end of May, after two weeks of sea trials.


 
Wally is currently negotiating three new sailing yachts, from 86 to 141 feet, and has two boats under construction, wallycento#4 and the upgraded 52wallypower.

Third Custom Line Navetta 38 Hull Launched in Ancona
Ferretti Group's Yard in Ancona has launched the third hull of the Custom Line Navetta 38 series on March 20. The 38.76-meter displacement yacht, with a beam of 8.00 meters and 299 GT volume, entered the water during a private ceremony attended by the European owner family and shipyard personnel.This marks Custom Line's fifth launch in the first quarter of 2024, demonstrating the shipyard's active production schedule. The Navetta 38 model was developed by Ferretti Group's Product Strategy and Engineering Departments, with exterior design by Filippo Salvetti and interiors by ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. World’s First Fossil Fuel-Free Superyacht, Project Zero, Nears Completion
The 70-meter sailing superyacht SY Zero, the world’s first designed to operate entirely without fossil fuels, is approaching the final stages of construction, with an expected launch by the end of 2025. The project, a collaboration between Vripack Yacht Design, Vitters Shipyard, and Dykstra Naval Architects, represents a significant step in sustainable yacht development, backed by over 60,000 hours of research and innovation.SY Zero is engineered to rely solely on wind, solar, and thermal energy while maintaining the performance and luxury standards of a traditional superyacht. The project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of eliminating fossil fuel dependency in high-end yachting. All technical data, system designs, and research findings will be made publicly available through FoundationZero.org, providing open access to sustainable maritime innovations for designers, engineers, and researchers.The yacht’s energy system is entirely electric, powered by a five-megawatt-hour battery storage system—equivalent to the capacity of 88 Tesla vehicles. Renewable energy is harvested through multiple methods: hydro-generating thrusters capture energy from water flow while under sail, a 100-square-meter hybrid solar panel array converts both light and heat at 60% efficiency, and a wind turbine supplements power generation using offshore airflow.Marnix Hoekstra, co-creative director at Vripack, stated: “This project has always been about showing what’s possible. GX42 Superyacht Construction Reaches Key Milestones Ahead of 2026 Delivery
GX Superyachts has provided a progress update on its 42-meter flagship model, the GX42, currently under construction at SES Yachts' facility in Istanbul. The project remains on schedule for delivery in summer 2026, with several major construction phases now completed.The aluminum hull and superstructure are fully assembled, marking the transition to the outfitting stage. Thermal insulation and main piping systems are 80% installed, while electrical work has reached 25% completion. Approximately half of the paintwork has been applied.The hybrid propulsion system, combining diesel-electric drive with solar power generation, has passed factory testing and is ready for installation. Camper & Nicholsons has confirmed the sale of the 50.58m schooner Borkumriff IV, built by Royal Huisman in 2002. The sale was managed by Senior Sales Broker Arne Ploch. The yacht accommodates six guests in three cabins and has space for nine crew members.Inspired by traditional Newfoundland schooners, Borkumriff IV has a total length of 50.58 meters, including the bowsprit, and a sail area of 1,164 sq. m. The exterior was designed by John G. Alden’s office, with naval architecture by Dykstra. The interior, crafted by John Munford, features mahogany wood paneling and custom furniture, contrasting with lighter ceilings and floors.The yacht includes a main deck saloon and dining area, with accommodation on the lower deck. The full-beam master suite has a separate study, while two twin guest cabins are located midship. All cabins are en suite.
