Lusben has successfully completed the refit of the mega yacht Oasis, originally built by Lürssen in Hamburg in 2006. The owner, who had previously commissioned Lusben for a full hull repainting in 2021, once again chose the Livorno-based shipyard for an extensive refit. The main focus of this refit was to extend the beach area by 3.60 meters, enhancing the yacht's overall length from 59.40 to 63 meters. The goal was to create a more spacious and inviting stern platform for guests to enjoy during the summer months.
The refit project involved collaboration with FM Architettura for design and decor input and Studio Sole for naval engineering. Extending the beach area required substantial structural steelwork, with precise nesting cutting directly on the platform and the lengthening of the two "tails" at the aft end of the hull sides to achieve a harmonious appearance. The modifications included structural work, refitting operations, and adjustments to hull and deck fittings. After applying filler and painting approximately 280 square meters of the hull and superstructure, stability tests were conducted, showing improved speed and fuel consumption during sea trials compared to pre-refit tank tests.
Additional major refit work was carried out on the Main and Upper Decks. The white corridors on these decks were repainted in an elegant light grey, and the inclination of the Upper Deck was modified to provide panoramic sea views through extensive glazing. Similar changes were made on the Main Deck, where perimeter glazing was added. The beach area, Main Deck, and steps were upgraded with new teak, and the steps were redesigned to create a more striking "fan" effect.
Approximately 40 specialists with diverse expertise worked in close coordination with the Captain and crew of M/Y Oasis to complete the project on schedule.
Lusben's Commercial Director, Gianni Paladino, expressed the confidence shown by the Captain and Owner in Lusben through their continuous collaboration. The effective synergy among project management, the work team, the Captain, and the crew ensured the successful completion of this complex refit to the owner's complete satisfaction. This achievement reaffirms Lusben's capabilities in handling intricate refits and major projects for recreational vessels of various lengths, regardless of the shipyard. Moreover, with the new floating dock in Livorno and a new support structure, the shipyard is now equipped to work on yachts over 100 meters in length starting from 2023.
Lusben was founded in 1958 in Viareggio. The shipyard has over 60 years of experience in the yacht refit sector.
