IYC has sold the 46m Feadship superyacht Highlander. She was sold in the United States after spending 170 days on the market. IYC yacht broker Mark Elliot represented the seller and Tassos Papantoniou of Torrance Yachts introduced the buyer.
Highlander is a custom built superyacht by the Dutch shipyard Feadship. She was launched in 1986 for the publisher Malcolm Forbes. The exterior and interior design was made by Bannenberg & Rowell, and naval architecture by De Voogt Naval Architects. Entirely bespoke, and built for glamorous entertaining and transatlantic travel, she traveled the globe – from Bora Bora, to then Communist China, Thailand, Alaska, New York City, London, France, the Philippines and more.
Presidents, royalty, Hollywood, dictators, rock stars and athletes all came. Elizabeth Taylor was often found sunbathing on the top deck, with Forbes’ Harley Davidsons aft and the green ‘Capitalist Tool’ helicopter parked on its heli-pad at her disposal.
In 2014 she had a total redesign and refit, updating it for today’s standards. The hull was painted into a deeper, dark green colour. Highlander can accommodate 13 guests across seven staterooms, including a master suite on the main deck.
Highlander has a cruising speed of 13 knots and a top speed of 14 knots. Her last known asking price was USD8,500,000.
