Series builds' layout options can and often do vary, and not just in response to customer customisation requests. Shipyards also take the lead. The most recent example is a new Horizon FD80 for the American market. Call it a display kitchen or an open galley, but the design is unique for the line. Additionally, as the superyacht is for sale, you can take advantage of it yourself.
This new launch, the eighth in the FD80 series, was custom-built by Horizon. To put things in perspective, this series debuted in 2019. The megayacht, which includes an on-deck master bedroom and a LOA of 80'7" (24.6 meters), has eight guest cabins and a beam of 23 feet (6.91 meters). She also runs a beach club and a skylounge. The overall casually sophisticated décor is set off by white oak and light- and dark-stained walnut panels, as well as white ash soles.
Dedicated dining rooms are typically found on the main deck of beautiful and casually attractive yachts. They also have entirely separate galleys, unlike yachts where you might find a country kitchen, a distinctly American layout. That is what distinguishes this FD80 for the American market. The open galley's center of attention is a sizable central island, which is illuminated by a brilliantly designed light above it. The island is covered with cream and grey quartz, which also covers the floor. Satin-finished white oak cabinets and high-gloss lacquered surfaces round out the aesthetic. The island's saloon side is the right size for three bar stools. While full-size refrigerators and freezers are just forward for your chef and team, the layout is also helpful for those of you who prefer to grab a quick drink or snack throughout the day.
By the way, those barstools can connect to another versatile space in the saloon immediately aft (below). On the starboard side, directly beneath the full-height windows, there is a foldable table. The table is an ideal work space or gathering place for your family to check emails and update social media with the barstools in place. It can be a breakfast bar when folded in that same manner. But if you fully extend it and position it in the middle, it can accommodate eight people as a traditional dining table.
Check out the beach club if you're looking for even more flexibility. Conveniently, a pass-through wall connects the crew to it. A happy hour with pop-up lights can be enjoyed when the day's supply of snacks and beverages has run its course.
This Horizon FD80 designed for the American market will premiere in the United States. In particular, she will be present in October at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
