Dutch yacht builder Heesen has announced the launch of a new YN 18750 unit at the company’s Oss facility. The 50m vessel first known as Project Aster, was christened Masa by her owner.
Masa, meaning my diamond, represents the eighth yacht in Hessen 5000 Aluminium Class. The latter has proven to be one of the most successful ranges by Heesen among the builder’s sporty and semi-displacement motor yachts.
Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, responsible for the vessel’s exterior lines, reflected Heesen’s DNA through a pelican-beak bow with reverse sheer and a sporty mast.
Masa’s naval architecture was developed by Heesen’s in-house team. The vessel with interior volume of below 500 GT features a fully-aluminium semi-displacement hull. Thanks to her lightweight aluminium construction and two MTU 16V 4000 diesel engines, Masa will reach top speed at 23 knots.
Meanwhile, the interior concept by Cristiano Gatto celebrates the lineage of Masa’s predecessors. Fresh and elegant décor combines light colours palette with silver. The guests of up to 12 people will find accommodation within five lower deck suites and a master stateroom on the main deck, accompanied by nine crew members. Three lounges and three dining rooms, a bar and a top-deck open-air Jacuzzi will be also found at the guests' disposal.
After her launch, Masa will remain in the harbour basin to receive final strokes and commission her systems. After that, the yacht will cruise to Hellevoetsluis for her maiden voyage, to undergo sea trials and official tests before delivery in June 2019.
Masa is the second Heesen's launch of 2019, after 55m Vida released in February.
