The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) is set to launch the second edition of the biennial 630-nautical-mile Roschier Baltic Sea Race on July 27, 2024. This prominent event, organized in collaboration with the Offshore Racing Alliance (ORA), features a diverse array of classes, including IRC, Multihulls under MOCRA, IRC Two-Handed, Class40s, and One Design Classes.

Friday, 26th July: 1800 - Skippers Briefing (Roschier)

Despite being in the midst of a solo circumnavigation challenge in the Southern Atlantic, ORA Commodore Ari Kansakoski extended a heartfelt invitation to the race, emphasizing the spirit and camaraderie that the event embodies. "From my current position at sea, I am with you in spirit, eagerly anticipating the sight of our home port in Helsinki bustling with eager sailors from every corner of the world," he commented via satellite.
RORC CEO Jeremy Wilton expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming race, highlighting the event’s appeal to both returning participants and new entrants. "After the successful launch of the first race, the RORC is delighted to welcome back boats from 2022 and encourages more teams from the Baltic Region and the rest of the world to experience this unique offshore race," Wilton stated. He assured that professional race management and a warm reception in Helsinki would ensure a memorable event for all participants.

Sakari Kalske, one of the key organizers in Helsinki, also shared his excitement about the race. "I am thrilled and delighted to extend a warm welcome to sailors from around the globe. This race promises a journey full of tactical challenges and exhilarating competition," he said. Drawing from the first edition's success, Kalske emphasized the race's role in enriching Finland’s maritime tradition and expressed eagerness to celebrate the spirit of racing with international participants.
