Amatasia is a 85m luxury motor yacht, built by Lurssen and delivered in 2017. She has a young and sporty profile.
Igor Makarov, russian billionaire and ex owner of the boat, invented the name Areti as his company’s name Itera spelled backwards. Until 2015 he owned three yachts named Areti, Areti I and Areti II. Later he sold his natural gas company Itera for US$ 2.9 billion. In 2018 his yacht Areti was listed for sale, asking €175 million. She was sold in 2019 and renamed Amatasia.
British studio Winch Design made both: the stylish and modern exterior with smooth lines and traditional bright interior styling. With a broad beam of almost 15 meters, she has a very spacious layout, which has been designed for use by family and friends. The design is in line with the Passenger Yacht Code, with a precise and perfectly balanced signature.
The Amatasia features accommodation to 18 guests in 9 spacious cabins, including owners’ deck, below the brigde deck, harbors the owners’ suite and two double VIP cabins, two more guest staterooms on the main deck, and another four on the lower deck. Also she accommodates up to 28 crew members.
“With the well-executed trompe l’oeil effect, your eye tells you it is real timber,” says Matthew Wilkinson, project manager at Winch Design.
The luxury superyacht is made of steel and aluminium. But the wood in her central stairwell is a veneer over aluminum. “Certain areas aboard governed by these regulations have to be flame retardant and have to allow for watertight compartments and escape routes, both in the guest accommodations and in the engine room,” says Dietrich Kirchner, project manager at Lürssen.
The bridge deck features a gym and a hot tub is just through double glass doors. Forward are the captain’s cabin, there are ship’s office and the bridge. The central lobby has an elevator that services all desks.
There is a sky lounge on the upper deck. The master suite features a private spa pool, sun bed and breakfast table. Amatasia also has a helipad in the bow, which can be used for sun lounging.

Her top speed is 17.0kn and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 6000.0nm at with power coming from two MTU engines.
Turkish yacht builder Numarine has launched the first unit of its new 40MXP model, a 40-meter superyacht that becomes the flagship of its XP explorer series. Ferretti Group's Yard in Ancona has launched the third hull of the Custom Line Navetta 38 series on March 20. The 38.76-meter displacement yacht, with a beam of 8.00 meters and 299 GT volume, entered the water during a private ceremony attended by the European owner family and shipyard personnel.This marks Custom Line's fifth launch in the first quarter of 2024, demonstrating the shipyard's active production schedule. The Navetta 38 model was developed by Ferretti Group's Product Strategy and Engineering Departments, with exterior design by Filippo Salvetti and interiors by ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel. The 70-meter sailing superyacht SY Zero, the world’s first designed to operate entirely without fossil fuels, is approaching the final stages of construction, with an expected launch by the end of 2025. The project, a collaboration between Vripack Yacht Design, Vitters Shipyard, and Dykstra Naval Architects, represents a significant step in sustainable yacht development, backed by over 60,000 hours of research and innovation.SY Zero is engineered to rely solely on wind, solar, and thermal energy while maintaining the performance and luxury standards of a traditional superyacht. The project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of eliminating fossil fuel dependency in high-end yachting. All technical data, system designs, and research findings will be made publicly available through FoundationZero.org, providing open access to sustainable maritime innovations for designers, engineers, and researchers.The yacht’s energy system is entirely electric, powered by a five-megawatt-hour battery storage system—equivalent to the capacity of 88 Tesla vehicles. Renewable energy is harvested through multiple methods: hydro-generating thrusters capture energy from water flow while under sail, a 100-square-meter hybrid solar panel array converts both light and heat at 60% efficiency, and a wind turbine supplements power generation using offshore airflow.Marnix Hoekstra, co-creative director at Vripack, stated: “This project has always been about showing what’s possible. GX Superyachts has provided a progress update on its 42-meter flagship model, the GX42, currently under construction at SES Yachts' facility in Istanbul. The project remains on schedule for delivery in summer 2026, with several major construction phases now completed.The aluminum hull and superstructure are fully assembled, marking the transition to the outfitting stage. Thermal insulation and main piping systems are 80% installed, while electrical work has reached 25% completion. Approximately half of the paintwork has been applied.The hybrid propulsion system, combining diesel-electric drive with solar power generation, has passed factory testing and is ready for installation.
