The Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta 2022 has started today in the idyllic waters of the Costa Smeralda, Italy. The event also includes the Southern Wind Yachts Rendezvous with five entrants from the South African sailing yacht manufacturer competing for the Southern Wind Trophy.

The Superyacht Regatta has been organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda since 2008. The event is for yachts of over 90 feet in length, and from 2021 also opened to multihulls of over 50 feet.

Giorgio Armani is the new title sponsor of the 15th edition of the Superyacht Regatta in 2022, scheduled from 31 May to 4 June. Four days of coastal racing against the unique backdrop of the La Madalena archipelago will be accompanied by exclusive social events ashore.
This year's contenders list includes the 30.5m Southern Wind sailing yacht Morgana, designed by Nauta Design with naval architecture by Reichel Pugh Yacht Design, 33m Geist, the largest single-masted wooden yacht to be built in the UK since Shamrock V in 1930, 32.5m Ribelle. The 33.23m Mariette of 1915, built by N.G. Herrecshoff, 33m Baltic Yachts WinWin and the 29m Sorceress, the first in Southern Wind's SW96.
