Arguably the main yacht show in the United States, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is set to start to start on the 1st of November and last for a total of 5 days. Earlier this year Informa, the parent company of the Monaco Yacht Show, spent $133 million to acquire a portfolio of shows, which included FLIBS. We now look at the largest yachts on display at the upcoming show.

Originally built as Madsummer for American billionaire, Jeffrey Soffer in 2008, the yacht was later reportedly sold to her current Mexican owner and renamed TV. She was then listed for sale in September 2014 asking €130,000,000, with a price reduction to €92 million in July 2016. She has remained on the brokerage market.
With a length of 78.4 meters (257 ft), TV was built by Lurssen to an exterior design by Espen Oeino and an interior by Alberto Pinto. The yacht is capable of accommodating 18 guests in 10 cabins and carries a crew of 27. Amongst the yacht's key features are a large spa pool, a massage room and a master cabin with a panoramic view.
From a technical standpoint, TV is powered by twin Caterpillar engines giving her a maximum speed of 18 knots and allowing her to cruise for up to 6,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. TV is available for charter from €850,000 per week.

The explorer superyacht Cloudbreak, built by Abeking & Rasmussen in 2016, owes her name to a big wave in Fiji that very few surfers dare defy. For a good reason, she is often described as a high-tech floating chalet, able to accommodate 12 guests in 6 cabins within her interior space, designed by Christian Liaigre.

Accommodating up to 12 guests in 8 cabins, Suri was extended amidst ship in 2012 by 11 meters, which extended her sundeck, arguably the nicest area on the yacht, and extended the helipad. Yachting Developments have released photos of their 39.5-meter sportfisher YD1015 performing sea trials off the coast of New Zealand. Launched on November 23, the all-carbon sportfish yacht belongs to an international sports fisherman, who opted for Yachting Developments because of their expertise in yachts with carbon hull and superstructure, which are, in fact, considered to be the lightest and fastest of their kind. Whilst Michael Peters Yacht Design was in charge of the exterior of the yacht, her “contemporary classic” interior was created by Naylor Booth Associate in collaboration with the owner himself. The layout sleeps 10 guests in four lower deck staterooms, including the owner’s master suite, and six members of the crew. The scale of the 267GT boat allowed for commercial-grade of 3.100hp MTU diesel engines, drawing on a fuel reserve of 40.000 liters, and advanced VEEM gyro stabilizers. Once completed, the sea trials will show, what speed the boat is actually capable of.

During yesterday’s conference in Milan, the Italian manufacturer has announced its plans to extend the product range with two next-generation projects, a 42-meter S/Y E-Volution and a 25-meter Eco Tender, both combining a diesel engine with an electric motor. “We have taken on these two challenging projects with enthusiasm,” commented Lamberto Tacoli, CEO of Perini Navi, explaining that the new boats “further reinforce” the yard’s offering, while retaining its “core values of tradition, quality, and innovation”.The aluminum sloop E-Volution, now under development in collaboration with American designer Jim Pugh, will feature Perini Navi recognizable silhouette, a carbon fiber mast, and rigging. Meanwhile, inside it will be equipped with a hybrid propulsion system for a more silent and eco-friendly experience onboard, when cruising far offshore. The hybrid Eco Tender, in turn, may serve as a chase boat or a guest tender for E-Volution or another larger yachts. Both projects are set to enter production soon, the yard executives informed. On this occasion, Perini Navi also updated the market on the six new superyachts worth a total of €106 million, already nearing completion.

Firstborn of ISA semi-displacement all-aluminum superyachts range, the 43-meter boat is under construction, with her hull nearing completion at the Italian yard’s premises in Ancona. Conceived by ISA in-house naval architects, Project A43 features a sporty and elegant exterior styling by Luca Dini, who also contributed to the yacht’s interior design.The interior layout of the 330GT boat provides accommodation for up to ten guests in five cabins, as well as for seven members of the crew. The owner is supposed to access his full-beam suite through a studio with a walk-in closet, desk and a chaise-long. The private sky lounge is a comfortable living area that can be converted into a movie theater thanks to the hidden TV screen. The guest quarters located on the lower deck comprise two VIP and two regular staterooms. Retractable balconies overlooking the water ensure constant contact with the sea.As for the exterior, the superyacht sundeck features separate areas for lounging and dining. Scheduled for delivery to a repeat client in early 2019, Project A43 is meant for transatlantic voyaging, with a range of 3.800 nautical miles at an economical speed of 12 knots. The yacht will able to reach a top speed of 19 knots and cruise comfortably at 18 knots. Noise and vibration reduction is the priority required by the owner, ISA shipyard concludes. Among other projects under development at the Italian yard is a 65-meter boat with a tonnage of over 1.250 GT. Upon her delivery in 2021, she will be the second largest yacht built by ISA Yachts, now part of Palumbo Group. Meanwhile, the largest to date is the 66-meter Okto completed under the shipyard's previous ownership.

British naval architecture studio Laurent Giles has opened up about a new explorer concept of 51 meters in length, Challenger 55, which can serve both as a commercial vessel and a research charter yacht thanks to its advanced technical capabilities and onboard amenities. The Lloyd’s classed boat will have a hybrid propulsion system, allowing for a range of 6.000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 10 knots, which means that cruising to most remote locations for up to 25 days without refueling on shore will be feasible with Challenger 55. In turn, the use of electrical power ensures the less environmental footprint possible. Smart dynamic positioning permits to access eco-sensitive areas, without disturbing seabeds or dropping anchors on corals. The leisure yacht sector borrows this technology from support vessels that have to maintain their position next to oil platforms. The fundamental features for an expedition yacht include an aft-deck helipad, A-frames for launching and recovering submarines and a large tender storage. The interior layout comprises a full-beam master suite complete with a private lounge, five double guest cabins on the main deck and crew quarters sharing the lower deck with the technical spaces and an on-board laboratory. Earlier this year Laurent Giles introduced a 110-meter superyacht concept Hemy.

The Taiwanese-based shipyard has launched its largest model to date, 34-meter Johnson 112, at its premises in Kaohsiung. The motor-yacht boasting Dixon Yacht Design profile will be handed over to her American owner in January 2018, once she completes her sea trials. The all-GRP superyacht conceived by Johnson in-house naval architects features a raised pilothouse position on the upper deck for convenient maneuvering. With a beam of 7.2 meters and a draft of 1.86, she can accommodate 12 guests in her 6 cabins, which include a main deck master suite and a VIP stateroom. As for the crew, they have two cabins at their disposal, allowing for four members of staff. Johnson 112 has abundant tender space back aft and an enclosed cockpit forward of the swimming platform equipped for sport-fishing. Powered by twin 1.925 Caterpillar diesel engines, the boat is expected to reach a top speed of 23 knots. Meanwhile, her ABT zero-speed stabilizers will provide comfort at anchor. The Taiwanese yard has recently committed to building an even bigger yacht, Johnson 115, measuring 35 meters in length.
