Southern Wind has launched its latest project, the SW108#01 Hybrid Gelliceaux. Combining exceptional performance, cutting-edge design, and advanced technology, this yacht marks a significant milestone in Southern Wind's range of luxury, high-performance Smart Custom vessels.
CEO Marco Alberti proudly hails the SW108#01 as a pinnacle of the company's Smart Custom concept, with Gelliceaux being the maiden unit of the SW108 model. The yacht successfully marries customization with innovation.
Nauta Design was responsible for the exterior and elegant and refined interior in a neutral palette, while Farr Yacht Design's naval architecture underscores the vessel's commitment to exceptional performance. Jim Schmicker, Vice President of Farr Yacht Design, reveals that a hybrid propulsion system was incorporated despite its inherent complexities, significantly boosting performance in various wind conditions.
SW108#01 stands out for her transom/beach club and garage solutions. When the yacht is at anchor, the twin-fold transom concept allows the guests to have a direct connection with the sea. By opening the aft portion of the deck together with the transom door, the swim platform doubles its surface area, to a total of about 10 sq m. The garage is designed to fit a 5.05 m diesel jet tender.
The interior has a four cabin layout. The owner’s cabin is situated forward in the quietest area of the yacht and three additional guest cabins are amidship.
Yann Dabbadie, SW Technical Manager, underscores the yacht's groundbreaking attributes, highlighting a deep lifting keel that enhances stability and weight distribution. SW108#01 is the company's first model intentionally engineered as a diesel-electric hybrid.
