80m superyacht Zen is the result of a close cooperation of two longtime partners in the yachting world, Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design and Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyards.
Through the years, Henk de Vries and Sander Sinot regularly conferred on the future of yachting, based on their joint experience and collaboration developing yachts. Remarkable parallels in their clients’ visions were revealed: a desire for more efficiency and less unnecessary space. The revelation inspired Sinot to design a shared vision of a new generation of super yachts, with technical and naval architecture input from Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects - superyacht Zen.
She has unique features for 80 meter yacht. The new approach starts with a deliberate evaluation of a ship’s internal volume. As a result, Zen concentrates all the owner’s spaces at only two decks.
The vessel's profile breaks from the typical ‘wedding-cake’ appearance, without sacrificing any useable space. The aft section of the superstructure features a 13 meter lounge, in which the sides and aft glass corners open fully to the exterior deck. The midsection has an inside-outside dining area with sliding doors to each side that can pocket fully and a skylight. Expandable balconies on both sides provide space for an aperitif. The forward section consists of a high-tech bridge with floating consoles and two guest settees. Outside, a vast and versatile exterior deck of almost 500 square meters is suitable for lounging, sunbathing, sports activities and parties. The area expands by an additional 100 square meters when the aft lounge is opened. An 8 meter swimming pool is located on the aft deck, with a large Jacuzzi on the foredeck.
At the lounge & dining on bridge deck, the concept of Zen is expressed in its purest form. A slanting 360-degree glass façade floods her lounge with abundant natural light, while the overhang provides intimacy and protection. Due to the stackable glass façades and corners at the slanting columns, the 13 meter lounge can be converted into one expansive al fresco space connecting the interior with the huge exterior deck space.
Above the beach area, the panoramic stern lounge offers a superior experience of life at sea with its scenic view of the ocean and sight of the wake disappearing over the horizon.
A full-beam front section of the main deck is reserved for the owner state room, the owner’s lounge, owner’s office and his and hers dressing and bathroom. At the sides, full height glass façades afford sweeping views of the ocean from the owner state room, lounge and office. As for the VIP stetrooms, they are spacious, with large floor-to-ceiling windows or that not only provide abundant daylight, but also allow guests to enjoy the seascape scenery.
Offering immediate access to and from the water, Zen’s full beam beach platform is ideal for relaxing in the sun, participating in water sports or parties, and enjoying stunning views. At the sides, the platform can extend to add around 20M2to the beach deck, creating a vast platform. The backdrop is created in 3D sculpted wood with integrated LED light fixtures providing indirect lighting, which can be changed in color temperature and intensity according to need and provide a sunbathing atmosphere or a more vibrant setting during a party.
Relaxation is central to life on board the yacht. The richness of well-being and vitalization of body and soul are behind the spacious gym and spa at the main deck. At the sides of these spaces, full height glass façades can be opened to balconies, providing a fresh sea breeze and a full inside-out experience. The gym facilities include state-of-the-art work-out equipment and is characterized by warm tones, indirect lighting, and the use of natural materials.
All of the yacht’s furnishings are custom designed by Sinot and produced by the best craftsmen. The balanced application of dark wood, soft chenille fabrics, 100% Dull silk carpets and bronzes with a variety of patinas, the use of tadelakt plaster on the ceiling and natural materials, such as split sandstone and teak, on the other ceiling areas and deck creates balance and unity between the different elements.
Northrop & Johnson has announced the launch of Ocean Angel, the second 40-meter explorer yacht in Ocean King's DOGE 400 series. The vessel has commenced sea trials and is scheduled for delivery ahead of its debut at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show.Designed by aLOT with interiors by Burdissocapponi Yachts & Design, Ocean Angel features a commercial-grade steel hull and aluminum superstructure. The yacht is powered by twin Caterpillar engines that deliver a top speed of 15 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots, with a transoceanic range of 4,000 nautical miles.Accommodation includes five guest suites for 10 passengers and crew quarters for seven. Notable features include a beach club with sauna and hammam, a concealed 1.2-ton telescopic tender crane capable of launching a 6.25-meter tender, and fold-down sea terraces. The interior design emphasizes natural light through full-height windows and seamless indoor-outdoor connectivity."Ocean Angel demonstrates our commitment to building capable explorer yachts with customized interiors," said an Ocean King representative. The Amels 60 Memories has departed from Damen Yachting’s main build facility in Vlissingen following its final delivery to the new Owner. The yacht was officially named during a private ceremony held at the Dutch shipyard, attended by the Owner’s team and crew.The exterior design of Memories was created by Espen Øino International, featuring the signature geometric windows and enhancements typical of recent Amels deliveries. Notably, Memories is the first Amels 60 to feature custom interiors by Harrison Eidsgaard, marking a new collaboration for the shipyard.The Owner, introduced by Moran Yacht & Ship, joined the project just six months prior to delivery. Despite the late entry, the Owner was able to implement several customizations, including modifications to the Beach Club, Owner’s areas, and Sun Deck, where a large sofa with a ceiling-mounted TV replaced the original dining table and bar. The Bridge Deck Aft was transformed into an on-deck cinema setup from its original lounge configuration.Joppe Osté, Project Manager for Amels 60 Memories, commented: “When the Owner stepped in, we were already at an advanced stage of construction. The advantage of this was that the new Owner was able to make decisions quickly and take possession of it before the start of summer. Until the buyer steps in, we design the yacht for all potential clients. The sales, design, and proposal teams are all involved. That is a major advantage. The custom interiors by Harrison Eidsgaard appealed to her new Owner, which allowed us to stay on schedule and move forward according plan.”The interior design by Harrison Eidsgaard features a contemporary beach house luxury style with natural materials and refined detailing. A notable feature is the spiral staircase with illuminated handrail. Northrop & Johnson has announced a significant price reduction on the 43.6m Feadship True North, now listed at $6,995,000. The yacht is represented by brokers Kevin Merrigan and Kristen Klein and is actively for sale, presenting a notable opportunity in the current market.Originally built in 1987 at the Van Lent shipyard under the name Fiffanella, True North underwent a comprehensive refit in 2021. ISA Yachts has secured the sale of the second hull in its Unica 45M Steel series to a European client, with delivery scheduled for 2028. The steel-hulled, aluminum-superstructure yacht follows the sale of the first unit announced earlier this year.Designed by Enrico Gobbi's Team for Design with naval engineering by ISA Yachts, the 45-meter displacement yacht features 60,000 liters of fuel capacity for extended ocean crossings. The design emphasizes outdoor connectivity through expanded deck spaces and full-height windows.Accommodation includes an owner's suite with lounge area and walk-in wardrobe on the main deck, plus four guest cabins below deck. CRN's 70-meter fully custom superyacht Project Thunderball has entered advanced construction phases at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Division shipyard. The steel and aluminum displacement yacht, scheduled for delivery in 2026, has completed hull and superstructure carpentry work.Developed with Vripack Yacht Design handling exterior styling and preliminary naval architecture, and Nauta Design creating interiors, the project features classic elongated bow lines optimized for cruising efficiency. The five-deck layout accommodates 12 guests and 15 crew across 1,100 GT of interior volume.Current progress includes:exterior fairing completion scheduled for summer 2025,full hull painting to begin September 2025, main deck insulation and compartmentalization completed and initial furniture installations planned for late spring/early summer.Y.CO serves as owner's representative, overseeing construction quality and technical coordination between CRN and specialty contractors.
