Fair Lady, the 37-meter motoryacht hailing from 1928, has undergone a transformation under the careful stewardship of her owner and the skilled team at Huisfit. While preserving her classic charm, Fair Lady has received significant upgrades, marking the successful completion of a meticulous two-phase refurbishment at Huisfit.
As Royal Huisman's specialized division for refit, rebuild, and renewal, Huisfit operates from its strategically positioned headquarters in Amsterdam, boasting three heated main halls and deep seawater quays for in-water work. Leveraging the expertise of its sister companies, Royal Huisman and Rondal, Huisfit caters to a diverse clientele and an international fleet, providing services ranging from refurbishments to classification-driven refits and comprehensive reconfigurations.
When the new owner acquired Fair Lady in 2021, captivated by her classic allure, he sought to ensure the yacht's seaworthiness and performance alongside his enjoyment. Huisfit, renowned for its capabilities, fulfilled all upgrade requirements across two consecutive winters during the off-season.
In November 2021, Fair Lady commenced phase one at Huisfit, encompassing hull repairs, painting, varnish restoration, and maintenance of main engines, gensets, and stabilizers. The cooling water system was revamped, and tanks underwent cleaning and repair. Interior enhancements featured a new main salon, galley, and pantry, along with updated equipment installations. The guest cabins received a stylish refurbishment, including the installation of new carpets. All tasks were efficiently completed within three months to ensure the owner's uninterrupted sailing during the 2022 spring and summer season.
Following a successful maiden season, Fair Lady returned to Huisfit in September for phase two. This phase involved a meticulous overhaul of the engine room, including the refurbishment of twin Gardener main engines, installation of new gensets, and fitting new stabilizers. Further hull plating repairs were executed, leading to additional hull painting. The pinnacle of the transformation was the installation of an entirely new bridge, equipping Fair Lady for many more seafaring years.
Stefan Coronel, Manager of Huisfit, expressed pride in the collaborative effort that ensured the on-time and triumphant relaunch of Fair Lady. He commended the owner's commitment to preserving the yacht's heritage and expressed Huisfit's pride in contributing to Fair Lady's rejuvenation, wishing the classic motoryacht fair winds on her future journeys.
