Italian sailing yachts builder Perini Navi has launched its first support 25-metre motoryacht working on 4-mode hybrid propulsion system. She features a 5,8-metre beam with aluminium hull and superstcructure.
The project was designed following the owner's of a bigger 52-metre Perrini Navi request for a more flexible cabin enabling single guests’ or children’s accommodation. Eco-tender resembles style and the outfit of her mothership. She also carries some very traditional Perini Navi features, such as dark blue hull and red load line.
One of the most evident innovations is the vessel’s sophisticated hybrid propulsion system developed by Siemens. This system provides four operational modes, which are:
• diesel mode with two MAN diesel engines powering two Hamilton waterjets for a maximum speed of 30 knots.
• hybrid mode works with one engine driving its adjoining waterjet, concurrently serving as a generator for an e-motor, powering the other waterjet.
• diesel-electric mode with a generator supplying electricity to two motors that drive the waterjets.
• zero-emission mode that is used for fully silent manoeuvring or limited cruising, with a battery bank powering both waterjets at around 8 knots for up to an hour.
According to Luca Boldrini, Sales Director with Perini Navi, “This is the first time such an avant-garde hybrid system has been installed on a superyacht tender.” The yacht’s fuel capacity makes 9150 litres, boasting range of 1,000 nautical miles at cruising speed of 8 knots.
The new model is also reported to feature advanced navigation system developed by Team Italua that is an important hallmark for a yacht of her size. All the on-board systems, including the hybrid propulsion, can be managed through high-resolution 4K touch screens, trackball and a jogger. The monitors are fitted with augmented reality function making it possible to overlap navigation data with video images.
Eco-tender is also markworthy through some design features. Her high hull bulwarks were designed to enable guests step across from one deck to the other. The yacht’s aft cockpit is fitted with lounge zone, sun pads and a fixed swim platform, along with a roomy dinette at the foredeck demanded by the owner’s passion for nature photography.
The vessel’s interior design concept was also developed by Perini Navi and is based on brushed teak and white lacquered joinery. A dinette-salon and a galley can be found at the main deck. Furthermore, there is a full-beam VIP suite, as well as a double and a twin cabins with ensuite bathrooms layed below deck.
The Eco-tender is scheduled for delivery in April, 2019, after sea trails. This launch is not the only one recently celebrated by Perini Navi. During the weekend, the hull of a 42-metre E-volution yacht was floated at the company’s in Istanbul facility, to reach Viareggio shipyard shortly.
