Nautor Swan has announced the launch of the ClubSwan 28, a yacht designed for high-performance One Design racing. This new vessel, developed by Juan Kouyoumdjian, is crafted for simplicity and quality, emphasizing speed and ease of use.
The ClubSwan 28 is engineered to excel in varied conditions, particularly medium to light winds, making it an ideal choice for sailors seeking competitive, high-performance racing in a user-friendly package. The yacht features a carbon mast and no backstay, and it can be crewed by four or five sailors.
Key design elements include a deck layout focused on safety and efficiency, with a clean cockpit for racing. The boat also has a full kite retrieve system with a sliding hatch on the bow, enhancing operational ease during races. The lifting keel and dimensions of the ClubSwan 28 make it easily trailered and rigged within hours, eliminating the need for specialized permits.
The sail plan consists of a mainsail, jib, AP kite, and reaching kite, providing power and versatility. The rigging is simplified with a single hydraulic system that adjusts the mast bend and headstay tension without a backstay, thanks to an innovative shroud configuration.
Federico Michetti, Head of Sports Activities and Product Manager at Nautor Swan, stated, "Our goal was to create a vessel that prioritizes manageability and ease of sailing over pushing the boundaries of absolute performance."
The ClubSwan 28 will debut in September at the 22nd edition of the Rolex Swan Cup. Following this, the fleet will gather at the end of October for the ClubSwan Invitational Sardinia Challenge at the Marina di Villasimius in Sardinia.
This launch represents a significant addition to the ClubSwan family.
Nautor Swan was founded in 1966 in Pietarsaari, Finland. The builder entered the superyacht market in 1999. Since then, the yard has continued building high-performance sailing yachts in three different lines; ClubSwan, Swan Yachts and Maxi Swan Yachts.
