Cantieri Leopard Investment, an Italian firm, has unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art shipbuilding facility located near Pisa along the Navicelli Canal. Currently awaiting approval from the necessary authorities, the project seeks potential investors to acquire the land and spearhead the development of a cutting-edge construction or refit facility.
Encompassing around 37,000 square meters, the proposed production settlement area strategically aligns with a larger 147,000 square-meter property. Notably, this region includes a designated 'reflooding' zone, showcasing a commitment to environmental rehabilitation within the project's framework.
The envisioned industrial facility boasts logistical advantages, providing ample land and water space for the construction of large vessels. These vessels can be constructed facing the launch area, enjoying direct sea access via the Navicelli Canal and the Port of Livorno. Situated in an environmentally and aesthetically valuable region, the facility is expected to generate a significant employment impact, creating a minimum of 200 direct jobs and an equal number in related industries.
Emphasizing sustainability and energy self-sufficiency, the project incorporates advanced technologies, facilities, and materials. Photovoltaic panels covering extensive areas of the industrial building's roof are projected to fulfill approximately 70 percent of the complex's annual energy requirements. The industrial building, structured with six distinct spans, is designed for the production and refitting of large vessels, up to 65 meters in length, utilizing materials such as steel, aluminum, or fiberglass. Advanced systems for smoke extraction, dust treatment, air compression, and air conditioning, housed in soundproof cabins at the roof level, aim to minimize noise emissions.
