Italian yacht builder, Cantieri di Pisa (recently acquired by Mondomarine), has presented two new projects, the Kitalpha 22 and the Akhir 42S. According to a statement released by the yard, the two new models are "united by a common objective: To observe the past and to take from it the idea that leads to its modern reinterpretation".
The Kitalpha 22 has been designed with a feeling of a gentleman"s yacht in mind. At 22 meters in length, the yacht accommodates 8 guests in 4 guest cabins and carries a crew of 2.
Two layouts have been presented for this series which vary based on the construction material. The aluminium version hosts the tender on the stern, allowing for a beach club on the lower deck while the steel option puts the tender into a garage on the lower deck, freeing up the stern for customized furnishings.
The second model introduced by Cantieri di Pisa is perhaps closer to what the yard has been known for in the past decades. "Akhir’s history reaches its climax between the eighties and the nineties becoming a point of reference when talking of Cantieri di Pisa" as the shipyard puts it.
A reiteration of the previous Akhir series, the Akhir 42s maintains key features such as the shark nose bow and the smoked glass windows. With a master cabin located on the bow and guests cabin on the lower deck, a large salon has been inserted on the main deck by lowering the kitchen to the lower deck.
One might recall that Mondomarine has acquired the yard in a bid against other local Italian groups at auction.
