Arcadia Yachts continues to look ahead and has decided to confirm their entry into the world of steel hulled vessels with their new FOR.TH gamma, where FOR.TH stands for Forward Thinking. This project closely follows the yard’s philosophy, and together with Hot Lab Studio, the collaboration that produced the successful A100+ continues.
The first model of the Gamma FOR.TH will be 47 meters long, with a maximum beam of 9 meters. Contact with the surrounding environment will be assured by the use of large glass surfaces and open transoms on both the main and upper decks. Arcadia Yachts’ typical linear design is contrasted by an almost completely glass prism, of clear architectural inspiration, providing the interiors with a great amount of natural illumination. This conceptually extreme contrast is emphasized by the sharp modeling of the superstructure, whose fragmented elements create an appearance of distance, just like glass prisms. A light frame, in chromatic contrast with the rest, ideally reunites the shapes in a play of solids and voids that permits daylight to inundate the interiors.
Usable space is concentrated just a bit forward of amidships to allow for ample sunlit and shaded areas on the after decks, but the play of solids and voids, that literally fragment the lines of the yacht, suggests of an upward movement towards the stern, restoring dynamism to the whole.
All exterior design solutions reflect the maximum in conviviality. Design philosophy for the proposed interiors is based on a refined and contemporary open floor plan, clearly citing modern real-estate design. Spacious salons closely interact with the open air, doubling our perception; the proposed layout links interior to exterior in a relationship without barriers. All this on a yacht with a displacement of just under 500 gt.
The 78 sqm. sundeck is surrounded by a discreet, low level structure that provides a base for the slender hardtop struts. The bodywork is painted completely black and merges with the glass prisms that delineate the bridge windscreen. The solar panels are lodged inside the prisms, a traditional Arcadia design distinction. Here the Italian yard proposes the possibility of a transparent jacuzzi surrounded by a spacious “C” shaped sunbathing area located on the forward half of the deck, with two linear settees and a central table tastefully set on the after part of the deck. The bar zone is found in the central part of the deck, facing aft to serve guests on barstools next to the pool.
There is another bar on the upper deck, shielded by a laminated structure that lets the sun filter through when desired. One of the many solutions for the upper deck that the yard has also developed includes two facing “L” shaped settees. This configuration creates the quintessential convivial area, covering an incredible 43 sqm. The convertible sky-lounge is another distinguishing feature of the Arcadia style; the full-height side windows slide forward until they completely disappear from sight, while the settees are placed to allow every seated guest to feel the sea breeze. Light inundates the area vertically from several skylights.
Of great interest is the proposal for a separate dining area, similar to the typical layout found on yachts over 70 meters long, connected to the kitchens below by means of a pantry that assures precise and discrete attendance by the crew, without disturbing the guests in any way. Taken all together, 68 sqm. of space is dedicated to the guests on this deck. The upper deck is completed by the Captain’s private quarters, with direct access to the wheelhouse.
The layout proposal for the main deck’s aft area (totaling 90 sqm.) also ensures the maximum in use of space. First, the dining table for eight, sheltered and shaded by the structure of the overhead deck. Then, after a large ”C” shaped settee, a spacious sun bathing area with removable backrests, providing further seating for guests, with a beach club/gym located below, separated from the stern by a large glass door aligned with the swimming platform. This solution lets a large amount of light through and eliminates any barrier to the view of the sea.
Also featured on the left and right of the 53 sqm. main interior salon are full-height glass doors that open onto the side decks, while access to the owner’s suite is through the owner’s office. This not only increases privacy but also assures considerable acoustic insulation. The suite offers 51 sqm. completely dedicated to the owner, and also features a private lateral terrace.
On the lower deck, guests have two 29 sqm. VIP cabins at their disposition, with private bathrooms and studios. The guest area is completed by two 16 sqm. twin-berth cabins with private bathrooms. An excellent feature is direct access to the crew area, permitting the crew to service the guest area without having to use the guest stairs.
The 47-meter Benetti, Africa, previously on the market through Burgess at an asking price of €16,750,000, has now been sold with Marine Marketing in Greece introducing the buyer. She spent just under 18 months on the brokerage market.Africa, Benetti's FB501 hull, was launched in Italy in 2010 and christened Imagination by her original owner. Two years later, she was put on the market through Camper & Nicholsons asking €22,000,000. Later that year, her price was reduced down to €19,800,000. Following two yacht show attendances by the yacht during her first year on the market, in Cannes and in Monaco, a buyer was found that purchased the yacht in 2014. The yacht was then asking €16,5 million through Camper. Her new owners then opted to rename the yacht to Africa shortly after the purchase. In 2016, she was listed for sale once again, this time through Fraser, asking €19,750,000. Chinese shipyard Heysea Yachts has received an order for a new Asteria 126 from a local client. The same individual also commissioned an Asteria 96 as well as a 25 meter model from Heysea.Asteria 126Built out of composite, the new Asteria 126 will have a length of 38.4 meters coupled with a shallow, 1,54-meter draft. Powered by twin Caterpillar C32 engines, she will have a top speed of 22 knots and a range of 1,200 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 10 knots.Asteria 96The Asteria 96 was developed in collaboration with Australian naval architects David Bentley Yacht Design. The yacht measures 29.26m in length with a GRP hull and superstructure.Accommodation is for six guests, split between a master suite and two convertible double staterooms, which can be set up as doubles or twins. Meanwhile the crew quarters allows for a staff of up to three people.Other key features include a walk-in wardrobe in the owner’s cabin and a separate media room that has been fitted out with a state-of-the-art entertainment system, while subtle accent lighting adds to the relaxed ambience on board.Asteria 96Heysea adds that future models can be built with a more powerful engine set-up, resulting in top speeds of up to 28 knots. Other extras include a larger crew quarters with room for five. The shipyard is also currently building a 43-meter yacht as well as a 41-meter, both of which seemed to be destined for the Asian market.

The 46.3-meter Baglietto, Only One has just undergone a hefty price reduction with her owner keen to sell her in this new year according to its central agent, M Blue Yachts. Built in 2015, she's now on the market asking €17 million down from €19 million.Accommodating up to 10 guests in a master suite located forward of the main deck, two VIP suites and two twins on the lower deck, Only One was designed by Francesco Paskowski and is currently lying in Turkey.Amongst the yacht's main features are an extensive sun deck with a large dining table and lounging area, a spacious main salon and sky lounge perfectly suited for entertaining as well as a beach club.MCA compliant and classified by Bureau Veritas, Only One has a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. Having seen very little use by her owner, Only One has just 585 hours on her Caterpillar 3512B engines that give the 46-meter a top speed of 16.5 knots and a range of 4,500 nautical miles at 12 knots. Admiral has confirmed that their largest yacht to date, the 73-meter Planet Nine was launched earlier this week. The Italian shipyard's 575th vessel, she was previously known as Antarctica and on the market asking €85 million in 2017.One of the largest explorer superyachts on the water, Planet Nine meets Lloyd's Ice class 1D rules, letting the yacht navigate in flat ice, up to 15cm thick. Featuring accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 cabins, including a 300sqm owner's suite, she was designed to re-create the feeling of a villa on the inside.Planet Nine boasts an observation lounge forward on the upper deck with the remainder of the space being dedicated to the explorer's guest cabins. Meanwhile, the owner's suite spans the whole main deck and is comprised of two cabins connected via a central lounge.A pair of elevators connect all five decks and provide both an ease of movement across the yacht as well as discreet access for the crew. Aft of the explorer is a helipad and a heli hangar, with a built in capacity to refuel the helicopter. It has enough space to house an 8-person Augusta Grande-sized chopper. The aft tender garage if fitted with a pair of 9.75-metre Rupert Marine tenders.CEO and Worldwide Sales Director of the Group, Giuseppe Taranto, comments on the launch of Planet Nine, stating: “We are proud of this construction and are confident she will be a benchmark in her category. She is a yacht with an unique style that will attract attention in every port. Planet Nine is also a great achievement in terms of technology.” She will be completed later this year. Planet Nine is scheduled to be delivered to her owner before the end of the year.

The Bilgin 263, was technically launched on November 27th by the Turkish shipyard. Upon delivery in late 2019, she is set to become the largest superyacht ever completed in Turkey. New footage released by the shipyard now shows her move to a new facility.A third, repeat order from an Indian client, according to people familiar with the matter, the deal to build the 80-meter Bilgin 263 was signed in October 2015 at the family-run builder’s head office in Istanbul.The exterior design and naval architecture for the Bilgin 263 was created by the Antalya-based Unique Yacht Design, while the engineering comes from London-based H2 Yacht Design. Accommodation is set to be for up to 16 guests split between eight staterooms, including a master suite, three VIPs and four double cabins. 24 crew are set to be employed by the superyacht.The yacht has a slim, sleek exterior profile with multiple outdoor entertaining areas, such as an extensive foredeck lounge with a dining area. Another lounge forward of the pilothouse boasts a superyacht spa pool, offering privacy while at port and great views from this lofty perch.This 1,600GT yacht will be fully ABS and LY3 compliant, and is predicted to reach a top speed of 18 knots, courtesy of twin 2,625hp MTU 16V4000 M73 diesel engines, while the total fuel capacity of 155,000 litres allows for a range of 5,000 nautical miles when cruising at 11 knots.The new 80-metre yacht is the first of two such hulls being developed at the Turkish yard, with the second Bilgin 263 due to be given a technical launch in spring 2018.
