Haven, developed by ShadowCAT and australian naval architect as well as engineering service firmIncat Crowther, is described as a “protective layer” to the owner’s mothership. By its design it helps owners and charterers to maintain COVID-secure social bubbles on board as there is an acting buffer between the main yacht and outside world.
This year has brought so many changes and even to yachts designs. Haven will act as a COVID-19 testing facility and quarantine space before allowing guests and crew to proceed onto the mothership.
The yacht's key features will include a laboratory and a hospital, allowing the monitoring of all crew on board Haven and the mothership. The owner’s crew will only come into contact with tested Haven crew. All new guests and crews will have to pass through Haven for testing before boarding the mothership.
The main part of the ship will have no direct contact with the shore. All stores and transfers will be handled entirely by Haven.
Haven has a multihull design which allows it to operate in two zones contained in the separate hulls. Shore zone will deal with any potential risk of infection, such as new guests, crew or stores. The yacht side meanwhile will remain tested and clean.
Air conditioning and circulation systems have been specifically designed along with “nanotechnological surfaces” to destroy viruses and bacteria.
Haven will including storage for Jet Skis, tenders, diving centre and decompression chamber as well as a submarine. A helicopter landing page and fuelling area can be also found on board. There is also the option to add a dedicated hangar.
Haven also features hydroponic gardens, research labs and offices for security and aviation staff.
The 68.2m-long catamaran platform has two MTU 16V4000 M73L SCR main engines and aa range of 5,500nm at 12.5k.
